ATS Environmental Services Environmental Management Consultants Tried to rip off a senior citzen for $10,000 dollars for an oil tank removal Sparta, New Jersey
I hired ATS Environmental to remove an underground oil tank on my 86 year old mothers property.
I told them to call me if there were any issues with the removal or the tank and gave them my work, home and cell number. The tank was removed, I was given a bill, which I paid.
2 Weeks later, my mother got a letter from the NJDEP saying she had an oil spill and they wanted $400 dollars and a bunch of reports. I called ATS, the salesman I was dealing with didn't know anything about it and asked me to fax the letter to him. He e-mailed me and told me someone would call me with more information.
I immediately got a cal from Environmental Management Consultants (EMC) who informed that they were a division of ATS and could they send me a proposal for soil remediation at my mothers house. They sent a proposal for $7215/day for removal of 20 tons of dirt per day plus $2200 for the reports.I asked if soil samples were taken and was told no because it was evident that there was an oil leak as there was oil in the bottom of the hole. After I started questioning them, they produced a soil sample they said came from my mothers removal. It showed that there was contamination.
ATS or EMC then produced another estimate for $4349.50 to do more samples and if everything was ok they would fill out the reports. I would also have to send the state $400.
I fired this company and it's division EMC. I hired another company to take samples which came back as "non-detect". They wrote a letter to the NJDEP stating that this incident report never should have been initiated. The samples and the letter cost me $1625. I have received a letter from the state stating that they have removed the case from it's books.
This company thought they were dealing with a hard of hearing 86 year old woman with a language barrier and with the NJDEP holding the gun, they were going to rob her blind. I think that once they got their hooks into her, they would have taken her for all the money she had.

You state that you have hundreds of 5 star reviews from your customers. What good are reviews if you edit them. I have proof that you do edit your reviews if it's needed.
There is nothing you can say to excuse what your company tried to do to my 86 year old mother. If I hadn't been there to protect her, I know your company would have taken every dime she had.
I gave you every opportunity to make this right and all you did was make excuses. I will continue to spread the word about what you tried to do. Hopefully you won't be able to do this to another senior citizen.
You've been in business for 17 years, I wonder how many senior citizens you've already ripped off. I think/hope your evil Karma will bite you someday.

I am sorry the relationship you've had with us has gone so poorly for you. We have been in business 17 years and we always strive to be successful for the people we work with. I think many of our customers would agree as evidenced by the hundreds of 5 star reviews that are on our web site review page.
As I stated on our own review board in a message to you, I recognize we are not perfect and it is evident in this case we have not been. I acknowledge our communication should have been better, and we will do our best to improve that in the future. With that said, there are some facts that you cite in your comments that are not accurate. I am glad that we've had the time to discuss those. I recognize that at this point we are not going to come to an agreement on those facts.
I want to wish the best of luck to you and your mom. I hope this all worked out well for you. As always, we welcome feedback.
