AVOID AT&T - whether youre seeking U-verse or other media services. In spite of thousands of online complaints that can be found by searching at&t over the Internet, this dysfunctional, corrupt company continues to allow their guerilla sales force to use sleazy sales tactics to lock people into long-term, contractual services by promising promotions and discounts that simply do not exist. Then, once youre locked in, at&t begins to over-bill you and ignore your complaints and requests for assistance.

Their customer service SUCKS. When dealing with their customer service employees on an individual basis, they are decent and kind people, but as a collective, they are about as organized as a Chinese riot. Its not the hand does not know what the foot is doing, its far worse; its the hand blames the foot and takes no accountability while the mouth continues to gorge on stolen profits and the a*s continues to s**t on its own customers.

READ OUR ODYSSEY INTO HELL

THE SETUP - A charming young AT&T sales representative supposedly named Donovan Ruffin came to our door and convinced us to try U-verse in spite of the fact that we told him we had an existing contract with a satellite service provider.  He told us AT&T had a promotion in which they would buy out your existing contract and pay all cancellation penalties up to $400. He then promised and additional gift card for $100 to offset any one-time fees we might incur. Sounded like wed be making off with a profit. Hard to refuse. His charm and lies won us over. He had an answer for every objection or concern we rose. He even gave us his personal cell phone to call him for whatever personal support we might need regarding installation, promotions, or service. He was going to be our personal support provider. This should have been a big red flag the moment the sales agent
began promising extended support

THE INSTALLTION - A week later, an installation technician showed up to set us up. He was a nice person and seemed very competent. It was only by luck that I had the technician call into his office to confirm the promised promotions that we learned before it too late that the whole deal was a huge, calculated SCAM. The customer support agent informed us that no such promotions existed and even though AT&T corporate was aware of the sales scams occurring in the field, they could not control their sales force. We had the technician remove all the equipment and reinstate our previous Internet and TV connections. Things appeared to be working until he drove off

THE INFERNO ABANDON ALL HOPE YOU WHO ENTER THESE GATESThe TV satellite continues to work well because he never touched any of this wiring. The Internet  stopped working  the moment he drove off. Since our Internet provider had already been AT&T DLS (SBC.net), we contacted AT&T to get our previous connection reestablished

THE NINTH CIRCLE OF HELL

Weve spent hours on the phone being passed from what impotent at&t customer support agent to the next. Each time, it has been like starting from the beginning, and each time, we either get disconnected or are told that the problem is being resolved and someone will be contacting us soon. No one ever contacted us and the problem persists as I type this message.  Since we rely on the Internet to perform our jobs, this loss of Internet threatens to impact our income.

Needless to say, we are now looking in to other Internet service providers

AT&T U-Verse sucks and so does their so-called customer service. They misrepresent themselves, and they can't stand behind what they say. Furthermore, although you ask for it in writing, and they'll tell you that's not a problem... you won't get one, or at least in our case. Our business has been crippled by AT&T, they froze our account, and our "free email" as well. Make no mistake... the only way to get through to !@#? like them, is for enough people to contact their local Attorney General's Office and file your complaint! The A.G. office works for the people. Their game is that they will say anything to get your business, or rather your money, then provide the utmost in sh**ty service, then put you into collection under a breech of contract that they control over you for upwards of 2 to 3 years!

I also fell for the U-verse salesman, but in my case it worked out OK. I made sure everything she said was in writing on the contract. I've had some minor technical problems but nothing major.

The other day I was at the AT&T store getting a new phone. The tried to sell the U-verse and I told them I already had it and had some minor issues I found irritating (mostly with the DVR recording shows).  They offered me a phone number that was two tiers above the usual customer service dweebs.  You might try going to your local AT&T store and seeing if they'll provide you with that number.
