I took advantage of a "risk free" trial of a smart phone from walmart thru att; gauranteed 15 day trial period. I returned the phone after 2 days and was assured there would be no charges. After two, forty five mintue hold calls inside walmart and two at home ( each resulting in an assurance from an att representative that the charges would be removed, ) the bills continue, as well as several automated collection calls per day. All the operators now say, ( usually professionally but sometimes rudely) is that it will go against my credit rating if I don't just pay.
