Complaint Review: Audiofile Home Theatre

Encountered two individuals in the Haddington Road area driving an Gold Mitsubishi Estate, 03 Carlow reg. Typical of this scam they said that the were sound engineers working for an audio company and that due to a mix up on an order they had extra speakers which they were trying to sell.

The were looking for 400 euros for a pair of these speakers and "kindly" offered to accompany me home, install the speakers and prove that they were the genuine article.

Fortunately for me while they were trying to hook up the speakers I went online to check out the speakers. I immediately got linked to this site and discovered that what I had been suspecting all along was true, this was a scam. I politely informed them that I knew it was a scam and told them that I would not be buying the speakers. They were very polite and agreeable, shook my hand and left without any further hassle.

They never admitted that I had caught them out and stuck with their story to the end. These guys are very smooth operators, well dressed, well spoken and almost believable. They are operating in the Dublin area at the moment and by the sound of another report from Dublin (Dorset Street) there is probably more than one group out there.
