Living in dallas the 19 years of my life.. in the past 3 years... i have been confronted 5 times... 4 of them on greenville ave, always by 2 different guys in a sport ute... they claim they have 4 extra speakers and that their invoice was messed up.. HAHA-

today 9/5/02, in highland park, on hillcrest by smu... two guys in a ford explorer pulled up and pulled out the same routine.. so by now.. im curious as to whats up with these sketchy motherf***ers trying to sell speakers, right, so i act interested and play along.

They pass me some fancy magazine "made by the manufacturer" and claim these speakers sell for $1400 a piece... I go hmm are they Klipsch? and so i look at the box and its "audiofile". So i says hmm ive never heard of this brand. And the passenger who gets out to show them to me says ohh..

thats because we only install them in "imax theatres and and put them in rich doctors houses"... so im like ohh ok.. thats bizarre because my dad is a MD... and we have klipsch speakers in our house and ive never ever heard of this brand... So im acting as if I want to purchase them... He goes right now we can get em to u for $699 a pair...they are worth $1400 a piece.

Now this just doesnt sound right, so im thinking how stupid are these guys.. I offer him $200(without real intent to pay) and he goes no man how about we meet in the middle...

so i make up some story about how thats all i have.. about this time the driver gets out and comes around to the back of the explorer and says ohh ok man... well we hafta meet our "new boss" in 20 minutes - and says ok we will do it for $200-

then I saw actually i dont have an amp, and he goes ohh dont worry they're preamped from 4watts to 400, with my knowledge of home stereo equipment I know that he is bullshitting and does not know what hes talking about....at this point i- begin to laugh and tell them f*** off and never to come back to my neighborhood again... im no sucker...

so i come home and get on the net- only to find audiofile is some bullshit speakerbrand and read all these other stories of these scam artists ripping people off.

hopefully after reading this, you will not buy any speakers from anyone off the streets....
