I have a similiar Report as others. However, this appears to be the first report of this scam in Washington State.

I was walking through a restaurant parking lot at Factoria Mall when 2 guys in a blue Dodge-MiniVan pulled up and offered to sell me some stereo speakers.

Intrigued (but skeptical) I said sure. When they opened the back of the van, there were approximately 10-15 individual stereo speakers (all the same size). The lead-guy proceeded to feed me a story about how they were lucky enough to have the factory accidentally give them too many units. They said the speakers were already paid for and that this is not illegal. They claimed that they were trying to make a few bucks instead of bringing them back to the store (where they claimed their boss would be waiting and would take the speaker for himself). They even showed me a printed advertisement in a stereo magazine stating that each speaker was worth $700.

I have to admit I almost fell for it! However, common sense and reasoning prevailed. Unfortunately, other people reporting this scam weren't as lucky. Some lost $600 or more! OUCH!
