I applied for a job with Rick Hendrick Chevrolet in Charleston, SC. I was called in for an "interview" with a gentleman named Lawrence Brown who I was told was a trainer. I later found out that Mr. Brown did not work for the dealership but rather a nationwide company called Automax. I thought the interview was way too easy and he seemed extremely eager to bring me on. That should have been my first clue that something was not right. I now know he does that with everyone. He will never turn away someone who is willing to part with their money for this scam course. I was also not told until after I paid $549 for the training course that I was not guaranteed employment at the dealership but he told us to "never fear, automax is here". There were 12 of us in the class, only two ended up getting hired. I, of course, was not one of them. I ultimately was hired at another dealership but not with any help from automax. When I showed the sales manager at the other dealership my "certificate" from automax, he said he had never even heard of them but it was a ripoff and he would never require his salesmen to pay up front for training. A word to the wise: never work for any dealership that uses Automax. Do not give these people a dime of your money. As for Rick Hendrick Chevrolet, since they participated in the scam, they are just as bad and I would not only never want to work for them but I would never consider purchasing a vehicle from them either.
