Complaint Review: Austin Lightspeed Locksmith

HORRIBLE SCAM!!!! BEWARE!!!! 


Their website and phone operator both say there is a $15
Service charge plus a minimum $25 charge for residential lockout.  She refuses to quote a price saying, it will
depend on the security of the lock in very poor English.  The lock was a simple house doorknob lock, so
I figured it couldnt be much more than $25, right?   WRONG!!!!

The locksmith arrives (30 min late) and takes one look at
the lock and says $135.  He said there
was no way a residential lockout would be under $100 and said the operator
shouldnt have said minimum $25.  When I
said the website said the same thing, he played it off and denied it.

I agreed to pay the fee with the intention of calling the owner
of the business later and inquiring about what kind of residential lockout
service would be $25. 

I called a couple days later and got a man who could barely
speak English and I asked him.  He said
something about not being able to hear me and hung up.  I tried calling back several times that day
and each time the call was answered and immediately disconnected.

They have all of their legal bases covered.its a pretty
good scam.  Go with a locally owned
business like Cothron.  I called them out
of curiosity and they quoted me 79.99 over the phone.

Expensive lesson learned
