I was contacted by Auto Protection Alliance by a Heidi Dennison wanting to sell a warranty on our 2008 Honda. They gave several options offering one at 60,000 miles for full coverage. They said I had 30 days to look over the contract and could cancel with no problems. I paid in full with a credit card. I asked for a copy of the contract to be emailed to me and was told that was not a problem. I waited four days and had not received a copy of the contract via email. I then contacted my credit card company and contested the charge. I had a bad feeling about the transaction when I did not receive the email with the information. I attempted to cancel the contract via phone and was turned over to a person by the name of Nick Price. He asked why I wanted to cancel the contact when I told him I was not happy with how things were handled he told me the employee that sold me the contract was stupied and did not know what she was doing. After going through wanting to cancel the contract He said "We don need customers like you" and well send the cancellation papers out but the computer system was broken and to call back tomorrow.
I called American Auto shield who is suppose to take care of claims for them and spoke to a Mandy who told me she was in charge of Cancellations but could not find my information in the computer system and call back in a week. I explained to her how I was treated on the phone by Nick Price. I called Mandy back on athe 24th January and when I spoke to her she said they did not have anything to do with cancelling the contracts and should call Auto Protection Alliance to canel it. I asked why she said to call her back and she said she had not. I then called Auto Protection Alliance back and spoke to a Leslie who became arguementive I then asked to speak to a supervisor and put in touch with Paul who said he was in charge of customer service he said I should follow the instructions in the booklet I received to canel the contact which is to put it in writing and supply notorized statement on mileage and mail to him at the Office in Santa Ana CA. I asked him why it shouldn't go the Arvada, Co he told me that they would just send it on to him. I am concerned that by not following the guide lines in the cancellation clause it would be come void. I then sent two letters registared to them one to CA. and one to CO.
Had I not used a credit card to purchase this I would be out the money. They put you in a never ending loop trying to cancel the contract. I told Mandy that I was turning in a complaint with the BBB and would notify the Attorney General's office on consumer fraud. I am also contacting the Honda dealer I bought the car from to find out how people like this get home telephone numbers to sell things like this.
