Automotive Basic Care dishonest ripoffs Tempe Arizona
I have taken 3 different cars to this place to have diagnostic test done onthemto see if the cars engines were worthwhile. They have a running price of approx. $48. to do this. The first 2 cars they did the test charged me accordingly and all was well.
I took the third car in after having done a minor tune-up and installed a new thermostat to have them check it again. This time they charged me $98 and their excuse was that they had to do some extra checking this time and they also had to put in a new thermostat.
I told them I had just put in a new thermostat, Victor sort of missed that part and said that the new thermostat he installed cost $14 give or take a few cents.
I called auto zone, checker,Carquest and NAPA and their highest price of all stores was $8.99 and the lowest was $4.99 and I was sure I had only paid about $5 or $6 for the one I had recently installed. I believe I have been RIPPED-OFF

Sounds like a good deal?

Although you may think that you were ripped off, with only the information you gave, it sounds like you got a pretty good deal. No repair shops sell parts for the same price as national parts stores. Those are "do it yourself" places. You would not expect a carpenter to sell you lumber and hardware for the same price as Home Depot? That would be like saying a restaurant should sell you a hamburger for the same price that you would pay for meat at the store! Thermostats are often put in vehicle to "elimate a possibility" because they are inexpensive. Try seeing things from the other side.
