Issue concerns "$120 in diagnostic fees I was unaware of being assessed at the time I gave my keys to determine the problem.  NEVER was this brought to my attention--verbally OR in fine print/writing.  (Normally an assessment & Cost estimate is made first, so you can decide on next steps and get three bids.)  NOT ONCE.

It is fair to ask AND to expect a business to be upfront about their practices, rather than "After the fact".

Not to mention, their "diagnosis" was bullshit and just plain wrong.  Audi in a few weeks announced a car defect that was made right by them.  HAD I done what Autoscope recommended, I would've incorrectly been out $3000!

Brought both matters to Steve Fordham's attention (the incorrect diagnosis AND the bullshit fee).  Jerk proceeds to argue with me on the phone and says this fee is "Standard procedure" throughout all high-end dealerships in DFW.  Again, bullshit.  I have my car worked on at Boardwalk Audi, University Park Audi, etc. and NEVER have been assessed any fee.  THIS IS A LIE.

So, to recap:  Bullshit fee, bullshit diagnosis for $3K, and arrogant help who doesn't like being confronted with their unethical business practices.

Don't be taken in by the shiny waiting room with water, brewed coffee, taking you to Love Field, etc.  IT IS A TRAP.

Reported them to the BBB and contested the charge on my credit card with them fighting the whole way.

BEWARE>  NOT WHAT YOU THINK IT IS.  Find a garage you can trust to be upfront, fair and trustworthy.  Autoscope is NONE of these things.

Years later I came across your report...sorry for the delay.

First, YOU signed the check in sheet where you approved the $120.00 to diagnose the car. Its the same process each and everytime a vehicle is check in. You were not treated any differently than anyone else. We want our clients to understand the process and even explain that the diagnosis fee is actually waived when you approve repairs.

Second, plese contact any of the dealerships in area and confirm that a diagnosis fee IS requested when checking a car into service for repairs that are not covered under warranty.

Here are a few samples that you may call and check for yourself:
Classic BMW 972-918-1100
Audi of Plano 972-452-3800
Audi of Dallas 214-561-1849
Park Place MB 214-526-8701

You were provided an itemized estimate to perform repairs. While you are correct that less than 3 weeks AFTER your visit, Audi of North American did release a service campaign to address the concerns you had.  IF you had actually paid for the repairs to be performed elsewhere, Audi of North America would have actually refunded your money , in full. So, you wouldn't have actually been out anything.

Lastly, I would ask anyone who is reading this report, to consider the language and tone the anonomous poster is using to make his point on the internet, and to ask yourself, if someone came at you using abusive language, aggressive tone, and calling you a liar , how far would you go to discuss a fact that you know to be true, when all they want to do is fight?

It came down to money, he didn't have the money to repair his car, and had been turned away from other local Audi shops, for contesting previously approved repairs.

I'm glad you've had your car repaired at a price you cannot argue with and I am sorry that I came across the way you are making me out to be....
