AutoTrust Platinum - Not a higher quality brand, just an expensive extended warranty

SUMMARY: AutoTrust Platinum is not a brand, it is an extended warranty tacked on to an inferior product. This is intentionally deceptive advertising devised by Auto Parts Warehouse.

 

When I purchased more expensive AutoTrust branded ignition coils, I expected a higher quality product for the extra cost. I thought I had been sent the wrong part, becuase what I got was the "Replacement" branded coils. Auto Parts Warehouse customer service explained that AutoTrust Platnum is not a brand at all, it is just an extended warranty tacked onto the inferior product.

I explained that I had no intention of paying so much extra for an extended warranty. All that does is give me the right to put my vehicle out of service for a couple weeks while I pay to ship parts back and forth, and pay for all the labor to put another inferior product back in my car.

After an hour of arguing with a few people, even being hung up on once, Auto Parts Warehouse finally agreed to accept my return, waive the restocking fee, and pay return shipping. The supervisor made very clear to me that agreeing to do so is NOT an admission of fault on their part, only a customer satisfaction gift.
