Do not hire this company to move your car.

Their contract allows them to over charge, delay and otherwise keep your deposit.  Do not sign it or otherwise agree with it or you are at their mercy.  They require a $175.00 fee UPFRONT to begin looking for a driver and truck to transport your car. Don't do it!!

My story is typical of the rip-offs in this industry.  I contracted them to move my car from Georgia to Arizona for $740.00, (including the $175.00 deposit).  The salesman assured me of a quick pick up. Almost three weeks later, my car had still not been picked up.

Since my deposit was paid through Paypal, I filed a complaint that my car had still not been shipped as agreed.  When the broker found out about the complaint, he shipped my car with a driver that charged me $925, and then added his $175.00 fee again, for a total of $1100.00 COD. I never agreed to pay that much and was unprepared when the car arrived with one hours notice at almost double the price.

If I did not come up with the $1100.00 within the hour I was threatened that they were going to take my car to storage where more fees would apply.

In my opinion, this is basically extortion and should be illegal.

I am going to look into the local laws in NY and contact whomever will listen to me.  It may not do any good, but I have to try.

Charging more to deliver

While I do not know the entire situation I can only ask that people need to understand that when they book with a broker, they should blame the broker for overcharges.

I have been in this business for 19+ years on the carrier end. When a carrier is issued an order by a broker, he/she HAS to collect the COD on the dispatch sheet unless the broker says different.
The reason? As a trucking company, if I am given a dispatch sheet that tells my driver to collect $800 and the broker confirms it... but the customer shows the driver a contract claiming they only owe $500

If my driver only collects the $500 the broker is not going to pay the carrier the $300 they didn"t collect and the money could even be deducted from the drivers pay. The threat of taking the car to a storage is one of the few options we have. It costs you more money but it is one of the few ways the carrier knows they will get paid.

I had this happen just last week (the 1st time in over a year). A broker issued a dispatch sheet showing our driver was to collect $400 on delivery. The client had paperwork showing he owed $250.

He flat out refused to pay the $400 and take it up with the broker even after I sent him a copy of the dispatch. If we expected to get our $400 I had to put the car in a terminal. If he had just paid the $400 he might have had a good case in small claims court against the broker but instead it cost him $400 + $200 in storage because he left the car there while he kept arguing and threatening me. Even though he was an a** to me, I still hope he goes to small claims court on the broker.

It is not the trucker ripping him off. The broker was ripping him off and the carrier gets caught in the middle. Bad brokers make it much harder for the carriers because we end up looking like the bad guys.
