This is Dionna Harrell and I want to set this whole story straight. The TRUTH! I have never sold a cat to Hugh Hefner's ex-girlfriend Holly Madison. Give me a break. Do you really think that Holly Madison would be on here posting all this psychotic garbage about my cats! Holly Madison has enough money to hire a Lawyer to come after me if this were true. I have had several adopting families come to my home to either pickup or visit with their new baby. I have nothing to hide and have references to prove it. Feel free to contact me and I can provide you with 'real' references. The person posting all this garbage is really Teresa Aleksandrov out of Ypsilanti Michigan. Here is the real story. I bought a Sphynx off of Cristi Carpenter back about 2008. They (Teresa Aleksandrov and Cristi Carpenter) STOLE Amanda Carpenters Sphynx cats from her. They bred the cats and were selling off all the babies. Amanda Carpenter contacted me as soon as she heard about the selling of the STOLEN kittens. I had already bought the sphynx kitten and my husband was there in Ypsilanti Michigan picking him up. Amanda Carpenter told me they were scamming me and all registration papers were all FAKE. Conveniently the papers were somehow lost from Cristi's house to Teresa's place of business. I contacted my husband and he said Teresa was on the phone yelling and arguing with Amanda about the kittens. My husband was very confused as he was just picking up a kitten that I had purchased. Everything was supposed to be there and ready when he got there. I finally got in touch with Cristi Carpenter and she said her Aunt Teresa lost all the papers. Cristi said she had copies and would send them out right away. Well 2 more months go by and nothing. Cristi goes as far as to put her Grandmother on the phone and tell me what a liar Amanda Carpenter is. I did not understand this because I did not buy the cat from Amanda Carpenter. I bought the cat from Cristi Carpenter. Teresa got involved because Cristi ran my Credit Card through her Credit Card machine. So when I contacted my credit card company to cancel the transaction because I never received his papers it went back on Teresa Aleksandrov. So this is how Teresa got involved. I had never spoke to Teresa until I took my money back for being scammed out of TICA papers. Teresa filed a claim in her state against me for the full amount. I showed up 3 times to court and it was a 6 hour drive each way. I did not mind it because I don't take getting ripped off lightly as no one would I would think. So after 3 months of arguing in court the Judge made his final decision because of 2 different sets of false papers on the cat. Teresa filed out one set then sent them to me, then Cristi did a set not knowing Teresa filed out a fake set already. This is when I filed the claim with my credit card company. I had to pay $700.00 to Teresa and it was all settled. We guess what. Teresa cannot seem to let it go. Teresa is almost 60 yrs old believe it or not. Cristi Carpenter and Teresa Aleksandrov have threatened to burn down my home with my 3 children in it. They have threatened me with their witch craft. They have continued to harass me to no end. I can only assume they both do not have anything better to do with their lives than think about me and my Sphynx cats/kittens 24/7. I'm just one of those people who got scammed and did't sit back and let it go. So this is what I get but it was worth it. Maybe it will make Teresa Aleksandrov and Cristi Carpenter think twice before ripping off another person again. Teresa has been looking me up everyday on the Internet. She claims she knows my life history. I do work in Hospice and do take care of dying people. She continues to make rude comments about me on Rip Off Report. If you want to contact me feel free to do so. I am not a rude or nasty person and not a very large woman as she claims. I do and will get nasty if you rip me off or try and hurt my family but I think that is how 'most' of us are with the ones we love. Teresa will continue to do this everyday until she can no longer function. This woman really needs people praying for her so she can finally move on. She is a very hateful, angry, jealous, manipulative, self destructive and just plan unhappy person I have ever met! I have met alot of people unhappy people in the medical field and she takes the cake. So don't be afraid to call or email me I will be happy to explain this mess to you. I have never sold a sick sphynx kitten to anyone. I did have one case where I sold a Sphynx kitten to a 19 yr old girl in Texas. Her mother bought the kitten for her. I took the kitten to the vet for a physical and a health certificate to fly. He went out to Texas and died within 10 days of being there. I was in contact with the family the whole time several times a day. I had advised them several times how to take care of the kitten but the girl refused to do so. The girl had him out the very next day going from house to house showing him off. I have a contract for this reason. He was to be quarantined for 72 hrs after she received him. Well 3 days of toting him from house showing him off to her friends and him not eating is what made him sick. I drove to Arkansas ( 10 hour drive one way) to get him to try and save him. I then had to drive another 2 hours farther to find a emergency vet to put him to sleep. He was barely breathing and the blood had started settling in his back from dying. I put him to sleep and brought him home and had him cremated. I did take pictures of him for this reason because Teresa contacted the girl and the story has been twisted to Teresa's liking as usual. The kitten had every test ran possible and the vet found nothing. I have all the paper work and will share it with you if you would like(about 20 pages). I spoke to the girl's mother several times and finally she broke down and told me his bones were showing. He had not been eating at all. He died of starvation. We had him for 5 months and she had him 10 days and he died. I don't know many breeders who would drive 10 hours ONE WAY to try and save one of their kittens. I'm lucky enough to have a husband that stands behind me and what I believe in is right. My husband took the day off work to keep the 2 youngest children while myself and our oldest daughter drove the long drive to Arkansas to get our baby back. I did not end up replacing the kitten due to neglect. I would NOT place another one of my babies in their hands ever again! As for Heff my little boy I bought from Elizabeth Largent in Texas he did die of HCM. He is NOT out of my cattery and did not get HCM from my cats. YOUR CATS CANNOT CATCH HCM Teresa! He is out of Movie Land Floyd Skyshasphynx and is owned by Elizabeth Largent in Texas. I got him at 3 months of age and he died 3 weeks later. I have a handwritten letter as well as typed letter from my Doctor who treats all of my animals. He wrote the letter to Elizabeth Largent if anyone wants to see it you are more than welcome. The Doctor also gave Elizabeth his personal cell phone for her to call him and she never did. Those are the 2 kittens that have died and only one was mine and was out of my control.
So Teresa, when people ask to see your proof, and you don't have any because I wouldn't trust you with a pet rock. And I would NEVER, EVER put one of my precious animals in your hands! Your defense of 'I don't know you and I'm not just going to send over my vet records to someone I don't know' will eventually wear thin. Come up with something better than that - come on. That's why people post on here to provide proof right?
To the people who have adopted from me Thank you for posting on here but be very careful in putting your full name. You may run the risk of having Teresa stalk you next - so beware. The things Teresa is posting on here are really the things SHE has done to me and others. She is a very angry person and I would be very upset if she were to start attacking you and your family because you came to my defense. So please be very careful when dealing with Teresa Aleksandrov.

Tired of the liar and scammer Teresa Aleksandrov

On another post this same writter said she posted this deal about caging cats from her research. If his Jeanie list does not exsist & the post is from a sam or a samantha who never had the experiance or even a son? ??? How can you post about something you read about?

I am not sure what practice this breeder uses for caging cats or even if its true however you can not provide healthy happy kittens without some sort of cages. This is info I obtained by doing some research....

I get asked that question all the time -- How can you raise your kittens in pens. That immediately tells me that the person speaking it probably hasn't raised very many kittens. Males have to be penned for the obvious reasons. If mothers who are having kittens for the first time aren't caged they tend to have their kittens in inappropriate nesting places or, worse yet, have one kitten here then one kitten there very often losing the first couple of kittens to say nothing of exposing them to all kinds of infections. There is also the problem with other cats. I have had queens who kittened out of a cage whose kittens have been killed by the other cats or mortally injured as they bashed them about like a stuffed mouse. Newborn kittens have no scent so other cats are not apt to recognize them as cats.

Kittens that grow up unconstrained by a cage also tend to not learn about litter boxes. They will not seek one out as juveniles and if they start going to the bathroom behind a bed or couch, they remember that all their lives even when they are properly introduced to litterboxes.

As far as socialization goes, that can go both ways. If kittens that have a tendency to be shy are raised in elevated cages they tend to be less afraid of the human face and more easily held. If cats tend to be standoffish, they tend to be more tolerant of human movements if they are caged and used to having humans feed and clean them every day. I have had some cats that were shy and if left to their own resources, would bond to the other cats rather than to humans if not caged their first 6 months of life. And then there is caging after a show and caging during an illness. No competent breeder can do a good job without caging sometime. Maia Sornson



I agree with everything that has been said up to now about caging, whether the cage is a cage you buy or a room dedicated to cats. I started keeping my cats in discrete groups after being on this list for a while. Of course that was after I had an only underfoot cattery and sat on the floor and cried because they ALL got diarrhea. :>) Sound familiar? What I have to add is this: I have hammocks in my cages and even when the doors are wide open, each cat is in "his/her" hammock. They get to choose--and they do choose and claim ownership. If the caging were so horrible, I doubt that I would find cats choosing to sleep in cages with the doors open. And when a cat goes into heat, she gets to stay with her "group" in a cage, rather than having her or a potential stud sent to other quarters.

Another reason to cage: For the protection of the cat! During Christmas, one of my cats in the "kitchen group" was allowed out of the kitchen in the confusion. (The kitchen group has about 800 square feet since it includes the breakfast room and utility room.) I had already gone to bed and the guests chased the cat, trying to get her back in the kitchen. The cat was so terrified that she didn't come out until the next day. I couldn't find her at all and was just sure they had let her outside and was beside myself. My adult son pointed out that if the cat was so valuable, why hadn't I caged it while there were guests going in and out. Excellent point, and it won't happen again.

Anyway, having "caged" cats doesn't mean having cats in 2 x 2 x 2 cages in a dark basement. It does take more time in that I have to go to each room to spend time with the cats--but believe me, they are getting more attention now than when I was cleaning litter boxes every five minutes and scrubbing the floor with Clorox every hour!

So there you go do some research if you are going to bad mouth someone because I am sure if this breeder is caging her cats its for a very good reason and not done so in a cruel manner.

Dionna did say she had a stud that produced HCM kittens from a cattery in TX but she did not say where. www.avasphynx.com states they spare no expense yet she does not scam for HCM. She is nice when she is trying to sell you. Maybe the new batch of kittens are healthy. She has 15 -20 kittens a month which is a lot. My kitten was not very social when her arrived. I guess that was due to all her cages:(

I adopted a cat & named him Hef of course. It was the...second worst mistake of my life. Cats are not healthy

I never do this stuff online, but I was actually searching to see the new kittens and came across this as the first thing that showed up on google. I wanted to agree with the above poster that Dionna has been nothing but helpful and I have two sphynx kittens purchased from her. Never any problems and they are the sweetest cats in the entire world. And, my cats even varied in price, you idiot (one is completely naked with stunning blue eyes, the other (who is just as gorgeous in my opinion) has green eyes and a little fuzz on face and tail). This is to every one who reads these ridiculous reports. I have bought 4 Sphynx kittens from Dionna Harrell of Avasa Sphynx. I did not buy them all at once it was 2 at a time. I am from Canada and did receive all 4 HEALTHY sphynx kittens that I purchased from Dionna. I have NEVER had any problems with my Sphynx and all are healthy, happy and very socialized when they arrived to me . Dionna was there for me whenever I had tons of questions for her. She is a very nice person and very helpful. I have tried to email the people who have posted the rude remarks and lies about her on here and I have NEVER received a reply back from them. It is because they are all LIES! Most of the reports are misspelled and don't even spell her name or cattery right. I know if I spend money for an animal and sign a contract I should at least know who sold me the kitten and know the correct spelling right? I'm posting this so people will do their homework and email the people who post on here. Ask to see their contracts that are signed by Dionna Harrell of Avasa Sphynx. Ask to see all vets records they claim to have gotten from the sick kittens. Also contact Dionna Harrell as I'm sure she will reassure you that these people are all FAKE. Feel free to contact me with any questions. I will email you back unlike the other people posting false information. I did purchase 4 sphynx kittens and have nothing but good things to say about Avasa Sphynx.

If you are going to file these reports and wish them to be at all credible can you please provide some actual information and any proof you may have? It seems more like you are trying to cause trouble as they are.
Did you buy a cat from her? Was it ill? With what? When was it purchased and when was it diagnosed. What part of the contract did she refuse to uphold? Did the other party uphold their obligations per contract? How do you know she doesn't test her cats and that she lost her stud and that if it's even true her program and protocols will not change because of that? There are TONS of reasons a kitten may go to someone for less than another or what someone's usual pricing is so what exactly does that have to do with anything. Also can't miss the UP TO part. They could be 700 up to 1600. Adding that makes it seem you may be grasping unless there is further explanation? Would you happen to breed cats by chance? *just my opinions*

Read ever one of Dionnas ads & website. She claims she spares no expense with her sphynx yet she has yet to have one of her sphynx breeding cats tested for HCM & recently lost her stud to HCM.
She advertises Kittens for up to $1600 but she sold one to a friend of mine for $700

Nothing she advertises is correct. Sparing no expense one would think that would included HCM testing esp after losing her stud to hcm.

Did you already file one? Purchase date, how old, what did the contract say, what was wrong, when was it diagnosed and how did she refuse to honor the contract? Also, how were you harrassed? DETAILS please.
