I ordered Wipe New by phone after seeing a program showing how easy it is to restore the exterior finish on a car.    The price was $19.99 plus shipping & handling of $7.99.  The headlight Restoration Kit was included at no additional charge.

The sales agent offered to double my order and I would only have to pay an additional shipping & handling charge of $7.99.  I declined to have the order doubled.

When I received the order by U.S. mail in a box measuring 5" x 5" x 3" I opened it and found the following:

1  3 ounce bottle containing a hazardous liquid with a flash point of 101 degrees.

    2  pcs Yellow cloth measuring 5" x 5"

    1  pc Red cloth measuring 5"x 5"

1  pr blue plastic gloves (disposable type)

    1  foam pad 3" x 3" x 1/8" (Headlight cleaner)

    1  Applicator brush (Plastic  handle 3" x 3/16" with soft material about 1" x 1/4" x 3/16"  to apply        product.

The whole thing including the box probably didn't weigh more than 6 ounces.

The return address on the label affixed to the box is Wipe New, 400 Returns Rd., Wallingford, CT 06494

I was charged $19.99 + $15.98 for a total of $35.97.

The package contained a small slip of paper saying the following:  "WIPE NEW is not recommended for application to vehicle paint, unless applied by a Certified Car Painting Proffessional.  Product will damage or strip vehicle paint if not applied properly, and only professionals certified in Painting and Refinishing should attempt to apply product to vehicle paint.  If you are not certified or do not have experience in refinishing vehicles, Please do not apply WIPE NEW to paint, and seek the assistance of a Certified Car Painting Professional.

The television program obviously mis-represents the product as being easily applied to the exterior finish of a car and The Avento Corporation should be prosecuted by the authorities!

I tried to call the number given for Reorders/Questions (1-888-822-3570) to request a full refund including return postage.  The call was answered very promptly by a Customer Service recording that saif "If you want to speak to a Customer Service representative, please remain on the line"  After 3 seconds the call disconnected!

What a rip-off!!!

It's not designed for paint.

Wipe New is NOT designed for paint ... it's designed for trim items only. That's why they offer the disclaimer.

May I suggest you read the detailed comments left her: http://www.ripoffreport.com/avento-corporation/auto-parts/virginia-beach-virginia-49721.htm   It contains well-reasoned statements concerning the product.

While the marketing methods used by Avento are up for debate, the product apparently has some merit.
