I am a current rental sales agent (RSA) trainee. I have no complaints about their sales techniques. I DO have a huge problem with their training. We were given a binder with a daily description of exactly what we will be doing for training. After the phase that conducts telephone conference calls on using their script, and after the phase of learning their 1970's computer reservation system during a 2-day period........

I was to receive counter sales training. This was supposed to be conducted by a mentor (50%) and an operations manager (50%). After several weeks, I have yet to receive ONE single day of training by an operations manager.

When the other agents were supposed to train me, the always walk away to tend to another customer, or to joke around with somebody. By the time I call them over, my screen is frozen by the mistakes I made. I am told I have to start over. They did not know what caused the problem because they were not watching, as they were supposed to - according to the training manual.

The operations managers are useless for training. Half the time, they are eating, hiding out, or just clowning around. Even when I am falling on my face trying to handle a customer, they never bother to come over to see how things are going.

I am lacking enough training on the counter, and simply thrown into the flames. It is humiliating, and also does not serve the customers well. Often I make data entry mistakes that require retyping the entire reservation over again - sometimes 3 times.

On the occassion I get verbal instructions, they can be different from what another manager or agent has instructed. This has led to more errors.

I simply cannot fathom how pathetic these managers are. They are not being monitored by the district manager closely enough. They turnover ops managers frequently, so I assume it is only a stepping stone to them, and it seems they could care less about whether I am experiencing a slow learning curve.

I strongly believe Avis Budget is a great company to work for, and the people are extrememly friendly. However, when it comes to training at my location, it is a big failure. After 90 days, I am to be evaluated. I can't wait to see what happens, and whether I will be thrown under the bus, as "someone that can't cut it".

If I complain, I might be singled out for punishment. How can one complain about ALL of the ops managers without reprecusion? All I can do is make notes. Due to my frustration, I chose to also make a post here. I guess if I get to the breaking point, I will write an e-mail to the Regional Manager, and resign.

Thanks for reading.
