Avis Car Rental, San Antonio, TX Duped into upgrade San Antonio TEXAS
March 2018 we went on a prepaid golf trip through golfzoo.com to San Antonio, TX which included a minivan rental from the local Avis location at the San Antonio airport (this group has done this annually for over 20 years - so we know how to fit luggage and golf bags into a rental, and we're all seasoned business travelers).
Upon returning the vehicle to Avis at the San Antonio airport we were handed a recept for around $72. When asked why the charge the clerk said we needed to ask at the counter. We stopped at the counter and were told, "Oh, this is just the receipt for the prepaid rental, there is no additional charge." So we proceeded into the airport and traveled home.
A few days later the charge did appear on our credit card account. After going through credit card dispute and BBB dispute processes it appears we did initial something on Avis paperwork for a $72 upgrade.
We'll weather the storm of being "pick-pocketed" $72, however we will never use Avis again, and we hope many people see this and are wary of their unethical business practices. In fact, we will vigorously avoid all Avis Budget Group companies - there are enough choices out in the marketplace to avoid being scammed by these folks.
