I went into this dealership with a good attitude and ready to buy a vehicle after a little haggling. We negotiated a fair price for the 2003 Jeep Wrangler I wanted. Then they did an appraisal of my trade-in. It was laughable, $2,000 under the lowest price from Kelly Blue Book. The appraisal was supposed to be done by an independent appraiser. Who is this mystery man? Who the hell knows since my car never moved and I saw no-one walk near my car. They pulled the usual car dealer crap and didn't give me my keys back.

Then the fleet salesman, Bill, said that my credit was good enough that they weren't worried about me getting financed. This was confirmed by Craig Darling the fleet sales director.

So off the to the dreaded "box" to deal with the pure evil of the finance (con) department. This is where I was introduced to Nathan (Nate) Hecht. We discussed extended service contracts, alarm systems, and gap insurance. I decided I wanted the extended service contract because its a Chrysler product and they usually suck. It includes an alarm, cool! After I got home I noticed I was charged TWICE for the alarm. I signed all teh paperwork and was under the impression that I was done, financed and everything was OK!

Well a WEEK later I start getting calls from banks wanting to confirm this or that and I answer all their questions. Then I call Craig Darling and ask him why all these banks are calling me when I thought the financing was already done. He states that they are shopping around trying to get me a better interest rate. So a few more days pass and Nate calls me to say they can't get me financed without a co-signer. I flip out yelling about how they could deceive me into thinking my financing was done just to sucker me into signing the contract and getting the Jeep out the door. He says I have to get a co-signer or return the vehicle by Saturday. Now the d**n dealer is 50 miles away so I'm really pissed.

I tell them I'm going to try to finance through my credit union and now I have to return the vehicle by Friday. Why a shorter amount of time? To pressure me into financing with them before I can get financing on my own. Why you ask? Because dealers get money from the bank when you finance through them. Blood sucking bastards are never out to help you, just screw you.

I will keep you up to date as I'll have this thing wrapped up one way or the other today!

The Last Chapter... Revelations

Ah yes, so lets continue with Avondale Dodge's drama. So I end up needed a co-signer and convince my Mom that I won't default on the loan (and I wouldn't). So I have good ol' Nate call my mother and give up her information.

Nine hours later we get approved and I tell Nate I'm not coming in this late in the evening but I want to wrap it up at 8am sharp when the dealer opens. He agrees. I show up at 7:50am and wait the ten minutes. He's not there. I wait five more minutes and then I find someone else in finance by going door to door. This lady seems nice, I couldn't imagine her evil. But I was wrong. She calls Nate who of course is still at home. So they talk for a few minutes and she starts printing out contracts. Now I told Nate to remove EVERY extraneous item on the contract from Auto-Butler to the extended warrantee. So she prints out the contract and there are NEW charges that SHE put on. She was like, "Nate didn't tell me to remove those" and I was like, "remove them ALL now." So she did get it "right" after the third printing of the contracts and shredding 3 trees worth of paper.

So I have my Jeep and am waiting for the other shoe to drop. They are supposed to be installing a "Pursuit" alarm system with fuel disable, motion sensor, etc. in the next few weeks. I can't wait to see how this works out.
