AWW Indus, Div of DGL Grp Ltd COMPLETELY incompetent Owner's Manual: little, if any info, many terms for 1 part, poor or missing or unreferenced or incomprehendable labels & "drawings"; NO CONTACT INFO 'cept mail address NO PHONE, website or contact info on GOOGLE. BBB.COM yields 888-867-0800 but no good Edison New Jersey
I purchased a QUADRONE Tumbler-CAM, from PulseTV.com, for 69.99, reduced from $129.99. Batch Ref:150920AWW, Model:AW-QDR-TBCAM.
I am an Amateur Radio Operator - Ham - WF3W for 20 years. I build, repair and ask-questions-of-manufacturers for all my gear.
I have been a professional, ie, paid for my work, Technical Writer, for the electronics and computer industries and RCA. Really dates me, huh?
I am - sorry for all the paragraphs beginning with "I" - an avid R/C Modeler/flyer/builder and RE-builder.
I must confess I have been flying "fixed wing" R/C aircraft; this, actually helicopter, is my 1st rotary-wing attempt.
OF COURSE, the manual is composed of "quirky English" from someone who is NOT a "native" speaker of our tongue - including Brits.
Diagrams/pix/visuals/drawings are MINIMAL to say the least. At this juncture, I can not, really determine, where the Li-Polymer batt connection goes, in the craft. Thats how incomplete and poor r the drawings. At 1 point, I coudn't even tell top from bottom and left-from-right. The machine is totally symmetrical.
Otherwise, the manual is abbreviated to the MAX; xplains VERY little; describes controls ambiguously and I STILL cannot ferret WHICH joystick is the throttle! On the Remote Control "pic", there is a FAST/SLOW slide-switch but no mention of a throttle. This is XTREMELY embarrassing, not to mention compelling me to lower my argot to cursing LOUDLY!
Im in the "mod" generation so I prefer email, because I want TECHNICAL info IN WRITING. Phone support is a joke for issues like these.
Not in, too much, desperation, I GOOGLed both AWW and DGL Group. I found LOADS of companies, eg, Wal-Mart and Amazon, who, I assume, sell AWW/DGL products. When I went to an address - of which Google returned more than 760,00 - I was SHOVED onto a site, I THINK, is TERAPEAK.COM. It APPEARS to b sum kind of "buying service" or search engine, for $$, sending u to where u can buy ANY product for the cheapest.
I DID find an AWW-DGL site but it only pictures their products. ABSOLUTELY no contact info, inclusing customer/tech/consumer support. I ALSO found a aite to buy REPLACEMENT parts! Since I jhave not, yet, got the thing in the air, I put that aside.
BTW, this helicopter has a video & still camera. NEAT, eh? Not if I cant figure-out its intricacies!
So, I bought a product, with which I am familiar, from a "cheapie" website - feeling good abt my shopping prowess - and got an enigma wrapped in poor, VERY incomplete English.
Sum other rip-off victim, turned me-on-to BBC.COM for a valid phone number but he said they were of, jokingly, little/no help.
I feel ripped and I was ripped. I will send a copy of this report to PulseTV.Com but u KNOW where they will point me...
Oh, that phone # is 888 867 0800.
Good luck! Enjoy summer! Date heavily! STAY HYDRATED!!
Sadder but, I fear, no wiser — shopping on-the-net wise — and waiting for my 1st crash. I forgot to mention, this thing comes with "crash protection" but I await THAT feature with VOLUMINOUS trepidation.
If u read this WHOLE report, Thank-U!
