Get this! I called Axia College back in May of 2005 and spoke to an enrollment counselor to see if they offered an Associates Degree program for Registered Nursing. Well the lady said yes and told me what program it was, so I thought about it and decided to start. My main reason for doing online classes is because I can't fit full time campus into my schedule.
So I have been doing these classes for almost a year and a half and find out that the degree program they put me in, has nothing to do with Nursing and that the classes will not even transfer as general studies pre-reqs. Not to mention, they don't even offer an Associates degree in Science or anything related to actual Nursing. They have me in a degree program that will get me to medical billing and any other desk job that probably won't pay more than $15 an hour.
So I have $20,000 in student loans that I now have to pay back in order to keep my credit from going in shambles and the degree is worthless. So I am basically wiping my A** with $20,000. I am a single mother of 3 children and I also take care of my sister and her baby, so I don't have the money just lying around.
I need a good lawyer that can get me at least enough money to pay back my student loans, in addition to enough money to cover 2 years of REAL Nursing school.

If you are so passionate about your UOP (which is actually a business selling education) then why don't you enroll in one of their phenomenal programs so that you too can wipe your bottom with an expensive piece of paper?!

UOP has a bad reputation with both employers and legitimate universities. When people hear the words "online learning" they think UOP and shudder. I have talked to a lot of employers and schools and most people are not comfortable with UOP or other for-profit online universities, which is French for "businesses selling online degrees."

I'm not angry. just passionate about UOP. Good luck with your 16/hr job that should support your whole clan! lol. I'm not even going to grace you with a response. you obviously feel that you have struck gold. I wont take your glory. Good luck in your land of Oppertunity. LOL! Keep reaching for the stars. Don't bother responding. I am not one of those that will ever return to this site. I don't have an automatic email coming to me updating me on your woes. I have a life and a job that pays me a salary. not by the hr.... :)

Wow Sybil make up your mind.... I'm glad you see the light. You went from claiming to defending... I couldn't agree with you more. In just a few words.. you went from worthless to fabulous! You went from I enrolled in a nursing program to admitting there is no such thing.

in your words:

"Get this! I called Axia College back in May of 2005 and spoke to an enrollment counselor to see if they offered an Associates Degree program for Registered Nursing. Well the lady said yes and told me what program it was, so I thought about it and decided to start. "

or did you mean this:

"Second of all I didn't say that I wanted a nursing degree because there is not such thing you idiot! "
Oh that's right your degree is worthless or isn't it? hmm? I think you are a very confused individual.

"So I have $20,000 in student loans that I now have to pay back in order to keep my credit from going in shambles and the degree is worthless."

or did you mean this....

"First of all, online degrees are just as difficult as on campus degrees, second of all why don't you take a look around and see how many people are actually going to school online rather than on campus? So how are you gonna act like an online degree means nothing?"
Ok so I've totally called you out... and believe it or not I am not happy about it. I know how hard I worked for my degree and I can definately admit how hard you have as well. Especially, if you are over a year into this program. I commend you for that. Believe it or not, this person you are calling an "idiot" is kind hearted and actually cares.

I do know what I'm talking about because I enroll students into our programs everyday! If they are wanting their RN degrees I incourage them to get their gen eds with UOP but, I also advise them to go visit the actual school they are wanting to transfer our credits into. Many of them do so, and return to me and enroll. Because we do not offer RN degrees! We do have nursing programs which are BSN's and MSN's (those are the campus classes with clinicals)

I want the best for them and ripping them off is definately not in my UOP training anywhere. These are lives we are talking about... my self worth comes from helping people not hurting them!

Obviously, we are both on here for different reasons. I believe you wouldn't be on here spending the time of day to tell me off if you really didn't feel passionate about what you are going through. On the other hand, if you can.. please understand that I am on here with the same vigor and passion, because I believe I am changing lives for the better. I have a special bond with all of my students... and if you only knew how much I care about them, you too would be on here upset and defensive!

I apologize if you think I insulted your intelligence... I didn't mean to. I respect your position and only hope that you will read the agreements that you sign before you enter any program. The classes are not in small print they are in bold and very clear.

There is something about obtaining a college degree that nobody can take away from you. I did it with two kids... very little money and I went from barely making it to making enough money to sustain a happy life. I wish the same for you.

I believe in UOP, for every report on here there are thousands of happy UOP students. As with every school in this country all experiences are not the same.
If you were my student I would have asked which school you were wanting to transfer your credits into. We would have moved forward from there. I am not on commissions... so whether you enroll or not... I make the same fabulous paycheck every month!

My advice to you is to finish what you started... give yourself the credit for working as hard as you have and continuing to contact the schools in your area that will except your UOP credits. Again, we are nationally, and regionally accredited so you shouldn't have to difficult of a time finding a school in your area that will except your pre req's. In our area there are long waits for actual RN programs... so that may be your biggest barrier.

I do wish you the best of luck!

I don't know what happened to you to make you such an angry person...maybe your significant other had an affair and you're bitter, maybe you got fired for being incompetent or maybe you just hate yourself so much that you need to wake up every morning and take it out on the rest of the world. Either way, I don't know you so why don't you get a grip before you go disrespecting anyone you please. If I was from Kansas like you, then maybe I would settle for making minimum wage too but this is Colorado darling where we have the third highest cost of living in the United States and many of the top paying jobs so I'm sorry that all you have to do in Kansas is short of nothing but in Colorado there are opportunities.
Of course I did not think that I was going to miraculously work on patients through the magical systems online you unintelligent runt, however I thought that when I asked if there was a program related to nursing that the enrollment counselor would be HONEST and RELIABLE with their information, rather than SNEAKY, DECEITFUL and SCANDOLOUS like they were. All they had to say is that they don't offer any related programs rather than telling me that this is the program I needed to start with. My MISTAKE for thinking that people had integrity and were honest about things when in reality, all they are interested in is your MONEY and how much of it they can STEAL.
So to you my dear friend, let me say this...since I posted this complaint I have received a job in the healthcare field, WITHOUT an Associates Degree and NOT related to my Associates Degree and it actually pays $16.45 an hour. So maybe you should research the pay for Colorado jobs before you open your uneducated mouth and start attempting to degrade someone that you don't even know.
FYI I have also signed up for nursing school somewhere else and have not been able to transfer any of my credits because they are considered useless at the new school. So maybe you should research a little more on the University of Phoenix rather than assuming that you know all.

Do you even have a clue?!

First of all, online degrees are just as difficult as on campus degrees, second of all why don't you take a look around and see how many people are actually going to school online rather than on campus? So how are you gonna act like an online degree means nothing? Second of all I didn't say that I wanted a nursing degree because there is not such thing you idiot! I asked if there were any programs that were Associates related to Nursing. There are degrees in Science with an emphasis in nursing so maybe before you claim that you are an employee and think you know something, then you should get your facts straight. Third, there are schools that offer the pre-reqs online and then you go on campus and to the hospitals for your clinicals so don't sit here and act like you have all the right information because you really have no idea what you are talking about. I have done plenty of research and found out a lot of information about the University of Phoenix that makes them a pretty crappy school and there are tons of people that have been ripped off by them before. So when I asked the enrollment counselor if they had any programs related to nursing, she should have said "no, we don't offer any type of science classes here and have nothing that will help you get your pre-reqs either." Don't ever insult my intelligence or disrespect someone when you weren't there and don't know the conversation that took place and maybe UOP should teach their people the information they need to actually be helpful rather than just try to get as many students as possible by lying.
Have a lovely day!~

An Associates degree in nursing? Online? COME ON!

#9UPDATE Employee

Seeing that UOP doesn't offer associate degrees in nursing online... I question your honesty here. Hey cut the crap... you are taking general studies online because you want to transfer into a nursing school. Depending on the school your going to all of the credits may not transfer... because you didn't do your homework before you started. Who's fault is that? I challenge anyone reading your garbage to look on the UOP site and find the nursing program you are referring to. Seeing that UOP is both regionally and nationally accredited, it is highly unlikely that your credits will not transfer over.

Be honest here... obviously nobody at UOP promised you that you could learn to be a nurse online. How were you going to learn to draw blood or take care of patients physically online? That makes no since, that's why UOP doesn't offer that program online! You signed up for the Associates of Arts in Health Care Administration. There is no way you got into this program without signing an enrollment agreement that states just that. A good lawyer is the key phrase here... he or she would have to work miracles for you. Oh by the way, who makes over $15.00/hr with only an associates degree?
