Opening for ceiling light fixture left 9" out of place, electrician had to open new hole for proper placement, wrong holes left in dry wall. Popped screws in dry wall creating holes. Outlet covered with dry wall requiring electrician to locate & cut opening for same. This caused popped screws. Improperly covered seams, & unprimed dry wall areas inside all closets.
Dimensional paint streaks on ceiling and walls. Many areas, including corners, around doorways & dry wall repairs not primed. This is evident by running hand across and coming out white with dry wall dust.
Dry wall opening left too large for light fixture to cover. Shower unit installed out of square which will result in floor tile now being out of square. Damage to wood floors. Extreme amounts of dirt and debris inside of new vinyl windows tracks. All areas left extremely dirty.

The electrical inspector never showed up for the final inspection.

Our attempts to contact & resolve issues with contractor failed. He would not respond.

He put a lien against our home for $1460.00. We paid this to keep our credit sound.

We would like a refund of part of the money paid to him, at least $1400.00 so we can have his poor workmanship corrected by a professional.

We feel Kirk Brickwood blackmailed us by putting a lien against our home instead of contacting us to resolve the issues I mentioned in my complaint.

Rebuttal cleared with BBB

#3REBUTTAL Owner of company

The report filed by the Diane Reed who failed to mention her name was cleared by the BBB as we left an opening in our schedule and the owner refused to adhear to the timeline. The problems in question were never brought to my attention until final invoice. I was giving an estimate of cleaning Five rooms of around $1700.00
after I damp mopped all rooms in question. The home owner tried to find damage to her painted pine floors that was created some time before the job was started.

The job went fine until I would not do free work. I removed some old bed molding from the ceiling and numbered it for the home owner. I was asked if Iwould put it back up after drywall was complete and said I would for a charge and that is when the homeowner started to become evasive and non communicative. In closing I would also like my cell phone number removed from this site as it is not a business line and never should have been listed.

Thank You,

Reed Rip-off Report

#3REBUTTAL Owner of company

Fri, September 28, 2007

My name is Guy Brickwood and I am one of the owners of B&B Consolidated. I am responding to a report filed on this website. The report was filed by homeowners Mike and Dianne of Livonia NY. The project involved minor renovation, including the removal of horsehair plaster, electrical wiring ,installation and finishing of sheetrock, and priming, ready for paint in an older Italianette style home. As an extra after a bid was submitted, we were asked to install a tub unit.

My very experienced crew took HEROIC measures to contain dust and remove debris. The homeowners were inexperienced with any remodeling and probably not prepared for the process. There were some repairs DURING the project that were necessary after the electrician arrived, however they were minor and not uncommon in a renovation.

The general tone of the report would indicate that the repairs weren't attended to, they were, and during the course of a normal walk through. The shower unit is an issue also covered with the homeowner, my company installed it, we didn't frame the opening or the original house. It is set plumb and level (not always easy in an old farmhouse) and it looks and functions beautifully. The damage to wood floors was brought to our attention, however the homeowners couldn't show us one specific area of the painted narrow hemlock that they considered damaged.

The entire area under construction was swept, vacuumed, damp mopped and the woodwork (painted) was all washed down with a solution of Murphy's Oil Soap and water. The electrical inspector has called trying to establish a final inspection date ,and he has kept records of his calls, to no avail. The homeowners would faithfully call several times during the week during the evening, for updates or to discuss minutae but became evassive during the billing process.

There was a discussion, initiated by the homeowner, about a cleaning service coming in for an estimate that was approx. twice the balance of the final bill. When no formal written estimate could be produced, we instituted lein proceedings.

In closing I would like to say that I would be happy to walk through the finished project with a third, qualified party, for a final appraisal. I am also greatful that this website exists and the rebuttal format is very fair. Faithfully, Guy Brickwood
