Complaint Review: BABC

BABC called me on I believe it was march 19 or march 20 2002 told me they could give me a Mastercard Creditcard. I was told there were no annual fees,no interest fees, and no renewal fees They have my checking account number they said they would take the $199.90 application fee from the credit card but they tried to get it from my bank however on March 20 2002 I payed $20.00 to stop payment on the fee today I called the bank and they took $10.00 from my account on March 22 2002 I then called BABC customer service they told me that a $10.00 dollar membership fee was deducted from my account. whom ever called me on the 19 or 20 of March 2002 did not say there would be a $10.00 monthly fee they said there would be a minimum payment on the card of $10.00 or I could pay more if I liked. I was told eventhough I had to say over their recording conformation that they were taking the $199.90 off the credit card to agree to take it out of my checking account when I told them I didn't have the money in the account they said just agree to this then we'll take it off your credit card. Boy what a lie am I stupid or what. I called them back today at the customer service and told them not to take that $10.00 out of my account anymore they said they would not and they stopped it as of today. I asked about my $10.00 they took and they basicly said I lost it there was nothing they could do. I hope they don't try this again. I guess I'm goining to close my checking account and start a new one if they do this again. So I am out $30.00 so far but it could have been $209.90. I feel that they should pay me the stop payment fee of $20.00 for misinterpitation and the $10.00 for the monthly membership fee I had no Idea about. Please respond to me asap Thank you
