On April 14th, 2000 I went online to Babygear.com to order a baby crib for my impending arrival. My due date was July 1st, so I figured I had plenty of time for the shipment to get to me. I'm on the west coast so I was told that the shipment would take 2 to 3 weeks to arrive, which was fine with me.

I waited for 4 weeks before calling customer service at babygear.com and I was told that they really didn't know what had happened and that they would either call me or email me back after speaking to their wharehouse manager about what had happened. I never received a call or email back and after a week I called them back again.

Calling customer service at babygear.com is no easy task as the average holding time to talk to someone is about 20 minutes. I have a timer on my phone so it's easy for me to keep track of how long I'm on hold for.

After talking with customer service again I was told that they had lost track of what was going on with the crib, but they were perfectly prepared to send one out to me immediatly. I was upset but agreed to have one sent instead of requesting a refund. I waited 2 weeks and nothing arrived. I then called customer service again and was told that for some reason UPS arrived to pick up a load of shipments but my crib never made it out of the wharehouse. Now mind you...this had been going on for two months now and by this point it was June 16th. I was going to be induced a bit early so I HAD to have a crib. I canceled my order and was told that it would take 3 to 5 working days for the refund to show at my bank.

Guess what? It's 7 weeks later and after MANY phone calls and God knows how much time spent on hold there is still NO REFUND!!
At this point I don't know who to go to for help but if I have to I will take this to court. I am not going to eat this 129.00 dollars!!!

#2Consumer Suggestion

Companies sometimes drop the ball because they count on you not remembering and as time goes by it gets easier to forget the whole transaction. I would send them a certified letter briefly explaining the situation and letting them know they have 24 hours in which to contact you or 7 days in which to send you a refund or you will report them to the Federal Trade Commssion www.ftc.com (for consumers who have been ripped off) and you will report them to the Federal Bureau of Investigation online consumer fraud center at www.fbi.us.gov.com. I bet they think twice about holding on to your money with so much at hand to lose. GO GET 'EM!
