Bader Company Insurance A-American Self Storage Insurance Scam and Set Up Indianapolis Indiana
In the months of March-April I was made aware that some personal belongings showed up in the garbage in Reno, Nevada.
Upon investigating I found that one of my storage units through A-American Self Storage on Valley Road had been broken into and burglarized - the lock had been cut and then replaced with another lock just like it. After filling out the report Bader Insurance informed me about their policy on what burglarly entailed - damage to the unit, not cut locks, and promptly denied my claim. A-American Self Storage informed me that they did have cameras and that footage would be reviewed and that I would be contacted. Twice I brought this up and twice they simply never called me or played dumb. The Reno PD never followed through on the police report. Everybody just got quiet and seemed content to let things pass.
Insurance was not optional when I signed on with A-American. I got no heads up or warning, rented for four years, had two units, and paid a large sum in rent and insurance. My fault was not reading the policy to a 'T' and questioning the scenario of a cut lock, which seems to be pretty common in the storage unit/insurance world. Both companies seemed very familiar with the situation and eager to put it in the past. A-American offered no benefits, perks, honest effort to help - but they did say that they were 'sorry, bud.' My honest opinion - not that it matters or is in any way official - is that this was an inside job.
