Last year, I went in with my friend to Bally Total Fitness and was greeted by a guy named Chris. He knew we were college students. Therefore, he told us that if we join, he would be able to give us a good deal because he was the manager (lies). He told us that it would only cost us $10 to start and when we go back to school, we would simply go to him and he'll help us cancel (lies), given that we go a total of 17 times within 30 days and pay off the first two months of the contract. We were thrilled at such an offer.

I knew what I was signing and I knew that I would be going there more than 17 times in 30 days. However, when the day came for me to cancel, POSITIVELY KNOWING that I went their for more than 17 times, I was told that I only been there 13 times. Therefore, I could not cancel. Also, the front staff recognized who I was. When I asked for the dude that signed us up, they said he wasn't in. I even went back a few days later and no signs of him. As it turned out, the manager was actually a lady, not the person who signed me up.

I also recalled that there were two occasions during my first 30 days where I went and their computers were "broken." Therefore, we had to put our names on a piece of paper and they were going to "enter them in" when their system was fixed again.

Even though my details seemed trivial and fine, I feel like all of these things that happened cannot be a coincidence. I had in fact been a target of a scam. I was hit dead on. Now I know how they work. Everyone who signs people up will say that are a "manager" and can cut you good deals. That is the bait that lures most people in. I go to a school in the suburbs, where I can't go anywhere without a car. Public transportation does not take me to where a Bally's is. However, apparently, there's a Bally's that was 25 miles away. Therefore, my location was not a reason for cancellation.

I tried contacting the media. No one listened. Maybe Ripoff Report will help put an end to this corporations unethical business tactics and their evil posterior.
