Last Tuesday, June 8th, I had a business meeting in West Palm Beach and at 12.30 PM I checked my balance online, and it showed $88 positive. I left home and later stopped at a gas station where I spent $ 25 in gas, then, I tried to get cash at the ATM, when the ATM alerted me that I was going to be charged overdraft for I did not have the money in the account!!!

I have just checked my balance online and since I am signed to receive balance alerts and had NONE, I just could not believe in that information, so I called BofA Help line - The "helper" was RUDE, UNHELPFUL, screamming at me, accusing me of knowing that Bank of America moves the position of charges for the most expensive first and because of that, some charges from 3 days before moved after a higher charge, creating overdraft after overdraft - I asked her to waive this unfair overdraft charges, and she refused. I explained that BofA ONLINE balance INFORMATION SHOULD BE RELIABLE and it was not fair to put me in that situation.

I asked to talk to a supervisor and the person put me on hold and finally came back asking if I still wanted to talk to a supervisor and that the supervisor was going to tell me the same thing !!! She did NOT connected me to a supervisor as I requested, and because I was driving on a highway under torrential rains, I could not do anything until the next day.

Next day I went to my agency and Alexandra understood the situation. She went online and told me that, BECAUSE I CALLED THE HELP LINE, someone there BLOCKED this charges on the computer, and she could no longer waive them. She was going to talk to the manager but I had to wait until Monday.

It is not right to charge overdraft fees to a client that has the BALANCE ALERT ON BUT DID NOT RECEIVE ANY, and worst - WAS SHOWN A BALANCE ONLINE AT 12.30 PM and that balance was changed not overnight, but in the middle of the day, without warning.

I feel BETRAYED by Bank of America, I HATE the "Help" service that is trained to give excuses and do NOTHING to really help. Bank of America is playing with peoples lives and minds in a critical moment of American society.

I refuse to be ABUSED and be quiet, to be ROBBED by an institution that is receiveing help from the government and giving HELL to the clients.

I DID NOT DEPOSIT anything anymore, and they can charge me every day if they want, and I WILL NOT PAY - for my money is earned with WORK, not stealing like they are doing from their clients and from the government.

I appreciate if someone can help, I really want to press charges against them.

are you checking online for your balance and not checking your register? Your properly maintained register is the only thing that can show you your true account bakance as you would have subtracted your debits as you made them and then added your deposits as they came in. This is the only way to prevent overdraft fees.

Online balance useless

The online "available balance" is useless. It can change from hour to hour as new debits are posted.

You can easily avoid overdraft fees by keeping your own register of your account; subtracting every check and debit as soon as it is made; and not spending money you don't have.

You won't get anywhere suing them for your own mistake. Accept this as a learning experience and move on.
