I had been a member at Bank of America for about 5 years when I had, had my purse stolen. At that point I was disappointed with Bank of America to begin with so I just went down to the bank to have my account closed all together so I didn't have to worry about it. I was given the money that was left in my account and walked away thinking I would be OK. I then started getting notices in the mail that my account had been overdrawn and my account ( the one I closed) was now negative almost $700. Apparently Bank of America let charges go through on my stolen debit card causing not only the charges but overdraft fees on top of it since I had closed the account zeroing it out. I called and went down to the bank on several occasions all I ever got was sorry you are responsible for these charges I couldn't believe it how in the world could I be responsible when I had reported my card stolen and closed the account I did what I thought I was suppose to do. I am a college student who does not have an extra $700 to pay for purchases and fees that I did not produce. So since I don't have that much extra money just laying around to pay for their mistake this has been put on my credit causing me to be unable to get school loans or barely even being able to get another bank account. Now my husband and I want to buy a house and I can't with my credit all because Bank of America doesn't care about the customer.
