I found bantix on the internet saying they have a mosquito trap that is quaranteed to to catch mosquitos around your home. They actually called me from australia telling me thaty is was the greatest product ever and if it didn't do what they said they would give me my money back of five hundred dollars. We even talked about me being a supplier here in Canada as they did not have one here at present. We have bad problems with mosquitos here so I was anxious to try this produce out. When I got the device it didn't look to be worth the five hundred I had paid, how ever it would be well worth it if it worked. I had ordered all the attractant with it and set it up as instructed. The device did collect bugs, how ever because of the lights on the unit it attracted all bugs specially moths, beetles, flys, etc. This ment the small tray of liquid that was meant to catch the mosquitos filled up very quickly specially at night. It did catch the odd mosquito as lots of other tyeps of insects, but not many mosquitos. I gave it a chance and ran it all summer while constantly cleaning it out. It had no effect of the breeding cycle of the mosquitos as guaranteed, which meant we had lots of mosquitos all summer. This device did not work well at all. I let the company know and they said to send it back and they would check it out. When I cleaned it up and sent it they told me they had found tiny bits of female mosquitos on in the fan. To them this meant it must be working. After back and foth e-mails it was obvious that because the mosquitos were not geting caught in the tray then they would just get blow out by the fan. This meant it wasn't working as it was supposed to as conclued by Andrew Coventry. His suggestion was to buy more units at five hundred each to catch more mosquitos. As per his quarrantee I said I was not happy with the product and would prefer to have mu money back. I have not been able to reach Mr Coventry again. That was over six months ago.

Obviously this person who has responded to my complaint is not the same person I tried to contact which was Mr Coventy. He appears to be a salesman. I have all the e-mails I recieved from Bantix and Mr Coventy and would be happy to share them with any one. As a consumer who is tired of getting ripped off by these guys who sell junk over the internet I would encourage you all to do your home work.

Don't just take my word for it, go on there site and check out the design of the machines. As mentioned the tiny trays fill fast with a few big moths and other bugs attracted by the flshing lights then sucked in with the fan. There is then no where else for them to go. As most of know there are lote of mosquitoes around so you need a good sized reservoir to collect them in. Unless you have time to clean the device every hour.

If you look on the site you will see they look all shiny and impressive but when you see what you get for $500.00US plus 50.00 shipping, you will not be impressed. They are pretty cheap looking and probably cost a quarter of what they charge to produce. Again I wouldn't care what they looked like as long as they worked. but they don't. Sorry, they don't work effectively enough to stop the breeding cycle of the mosquito.

As far as Bantix being so well known, then ask your self why you don't see their product in any of the big chain stores for sale? Any one can make that stuff up about who they supply to and how great their suppliers think they are. If that where true then you would see there product more commercially available.

All I say is buyer beware.

Mosquito trap incorrect information by client

#3REBUTTAL Owner of company

Hi

I am the managing director and Inventor of the Bantix Mosquito Trap

I note that an article has been posted on your website by an unhappy customer re our Bantix mosquito trap, the actual facts are incorrect and the person has mis represented the true facts to you. As for not being able to get in contact with us that is ridiculous we have been in the same factory,  same telephone numbers and web and email site for 10 years.

The gentleman had the trap for way over the warranty period and then wrote to me saying he wanted his money back as he still had  mosquitoes and the trap did not catch one mosquito in over 12 months – which is past  our warranty period (which states if you do not catch mosquitoes we will give your money back) this has been our policy for 10 years and to date have never had to refund anyone.

We export these units to 78 countries and have won numerous awards in Australia and internationally, we have the world leading test authorities stating how well it works .Schnell laboratories in the States have stated our is the bench mark of traps that others try to aspire to. Simply we can provide references re our trap and even US customers who have been using the trap for years, by the way my old technology is the Mega Catch unit which I licensed 10 years ago which evidentially has a large US market share and has been tested with proven results from Dan Kline your leading USA expert . The trap in question is my original technology that has my enhanced technology added.

After I spoke to the complaining client and tried to get to the bottom of it, we found he did not service it regularly, did not top it up with the required lures as obviously in the time he had not ordered any, (I sent him some free ones) we eventually asked him to return the trap so we could test it and make sure it was working correctly.

When we received it back we opened the box up (which we still have here in Australia) and found he had not cleaned the unit and it was packed with dead mosquito stuck to the side of the tray and in the fan and all over the inside of the trap, we tested the unit which was found to be working correctly.

I rang him and explained this to him that his trap he had owned for over a year was obviously working, and we were happy to send it back with some free consumables and work with him to find out why he was not getting the results he THOUGHT he should be getting as the trap was working. He indicated he was not happy with having to leave it running 24/7 and he was not interested in servicing it (topping up with water) ever 4 days, did not want the trap back and he was going to cause trouble for us.

Now I see what he intended,  for your info-we supply our traps to the United Nations Peace keeping force, the Australian Military and DEFFAT our embassies, to all the major mining companies, Santos BHP , Rio Tinto, Bechtel, major pest companies like ISS Flick, Rentokil and many smaller and independent operators ,Sir Richard Branson’s Islands and many resorts throughout the world and this is the only complaint.

This complaint may cost my company millions of dollars of lost sales, who do I sue then you or the client.

I think that this comment sent to you is unfair and unfounded by someone who has not got his way of getting his money back after 12 months use as he doesn’t want to put the effort in to run his unit as per the correct procedure for good results as indicated in the manual.

I would appreciate a response and am happy to answer any questions or supply all scientific testing  or customer references.

I do not know what my rights of redress are as yet against a customer who gets his story published by you, if they are untrue and unfounded.

I have pasted below an enquiry that came to me on Friday from one of my distributors , it came to him via email from some one that has been selling my traps (which I did not know off) as he got them supplied via another distributor please ring him and get an independent opinion from someone else also in the pest industry in the USA, I do not know the man.

I have sold the Series 4 non gas for years, but   about 3 years ago my supplier, Univar professional products, stopped selling   the trap and the lure. I had to stop selling them. I would like to know where   in the U.S. I can purchase the series 4 trap. I could sell them or rent them   if I could get an source for the trap. Please call or email us on where I can   get the traps. Thank you; Phil Hadley
