Barbizon Classes Imta And Barbizon Jmt ripoff dishonest unhelpful and untrustable Boston Massachusetts
HI. Here is my story. I was 13 and very nieve. When a girl I knew got called in my mom asked if I could tag along. I went to the hotel and sat through the oretation and then got to talk to the Judy who told me i was a sporty fall model and the girl i was with a spring model. when i got called back I was told that I had 10 out of 10 angencies that wanted me but the other girl was only wanted by 8 so i was to go first start my career then pay for her to go through.
it cost me 2,500 to go to the classes which payed for the bus. on the first ride down i met some new friends and the bus (WHICH WAS A REALLY OLD SCHOOL BUS) nearly broke down on the highway to the school in boston. when we got to the school we had to go up to the 3rd floor in to a cramped room to check in ad was told which room too go into. When I was told where i was supposed to be i went through the rooms till i got to the make up section. which was a very hot and way to small room which barely fit my class and the window woudent even open.
Then they taught us the 'basics" in makeup which every one already knew. then after that class we were moved to a slightly larger room where we were to learn "runway" where only 3 people in the class were actually tall enough myself included. but i dont know how we were expected to learn all the thing nessary when after like 4 steps id be falling off. then classes continued and then one day they said "anyone who would like to do imta please sign up." so naturally we all did except me because i need to ask my mom. but the next day there was a snow strom so i dident get to sign up. but the next day i got a call saying they really wanted me to go so i said id be there.
the week after that i went to the imta auditions. and was told to all them and theyd call back to tell me the next day.
well like 5 days after i called i got a reply that i was accpted. and it cost 5,200 dollars. then the next orentation i was told i was going to have a photoshoot then a hair cut that night. my photo shoot was fun but when i got my hair done i was embarassed by the lady in charge saying i had to loose weight and i was ridiculed because my shirt said cheerioes.
then i needed to drop out because i could not make my payment. and on them contract it states after the photo shoot is done all images become property of them contestants. so i emailed the person whoruns my area and she replyed saying that i would not get my pictures unless i attended the full Imta so i replyed saying that it should say that in the contract.
and then back at barbizon my mom sent in a check and then they took the money from her account so we could barely pay rent. and they still havent given the money back.
but back at imta all i want is my pictures and thats it.... once i get them thats the last time they will hear from me.
so i reccomend that no girls ever try to attend the Barbizon or imta cause all they want is your money and its a complete ripoff
thank you

IMTA - Barbizon was great for my daughter
#2Consumer Comment
Thu, December 04, 2008
I am sorry to hear the person who had what she considered a bad experience when she was 13 but I don't think her comments are fair from my experience. my daughter went to Barbizon and to IMTA. They tell you at the outset the cost of both Barbizon and IMTA. Sometimes people sign up when they know they can't afford it hoping something will change. It was expensive but I knew that ahead of time. It was a great experience my daughter could not have gotten anywhere else. She got to perform in front of over a thousand people in NYC. It was great for her confidence and self esteem. She also signed with a NYC agency. We did not think it was a waste - expensive? yes - waste? no.
