July 4, 2008 - Hubby contacted Bargain Network 1-800-333-1915 for listings of foreclosed homes in our area. It was explained we had a 30 day trial period to decide if we'd like to keep a monthly subscription and have access to their website at a price of $9.95/week, billed monthly at $39.80/month. (Operator 152379)

July 21, 2008 - I contacted Bargain Network advising nothing had been received. Another package was being sent out and our trial period was extended until 08/20/08. We needed to cancel by this date if we did not want to continue the subscription. (Operator 153465).

August 14, 2008 - An email was sent to Bargain Network cancelling their services via their website.

August 15, 2008 - Upon checking my credit card statement online, a charge of $19.80 was made to my card on 08/11/08 by "EZ Saver". I contacted Bargain Network and asked to speak with a supervisor regarding this charge which equaled 2 weeks of their monthly total charges.

Supervisor Sandra, #11639 advised that when I originally contacted them on July 4th I agreed to be signed up on some sort of "discount program" which was totally separate from Bargain Network. Something to do with a Walmart discount card. How convenient they just check a box stating "yes" on their computer. I informed her I in NO WAY signed up for any such program and that I received something just today in the mail from Hertz rental car offering discounts that seemed to be affiliated with them. She said she had nothing to do with Hertz. That I would have to contact this "EZ Saver" directly to correct Bargain Network's mistake of signing me up in the first place.

Upon speaking with EZ Saver at 1-800-262-6199 they were sincerely apologetic about the situation and the mix up. They cancelled the account and will credit my card back for $19.80.

Basically, this Bargain Network sounds out documentation which is public record. They then pass along your personal information to their marketing partners and third parties, of which I'm sure they get a fee for, so send you all sorts of junk mail. These partners charge your card as well.

BEWARE!
