In May, during a trip to USA, my husband purchased me a gift - a Nook Colour - the latest in digital readers.  He also purchased a gift card for use to purchase books over the internet.  I duly registered at Barnes and Noble, but have tried unsuccessfully to purchase books.  After much frustration they finally tell me that I cannot use this thing outside USA / Canada etc.  I am so angry that there were no disclaimers - sales staff did not point this out - and their website did not mention it either.

Now its too late to return for credit (besides we are in South Africa!!!!)  All I get via email from customer support is their standard replies regarding credits (within 14 days and I must visit in person!!!), services  (cannot buy books if I am out of the country because of royalties - no solutions offered) etc.  No-one with brains has bothered to address my problem.

This item is not exactly cheap, and we would have been better off buying another brand such as the Kindle which is usable in South Africa.

Don't let Barnes and Noble rip you off selling products you cannot use outside USA

Your husband should have asked the salesperson before he bought it if it was usable outside the U.S.  It's no one else's fault but his.
