My daughter received what looked like a legitimate check for $986.68 and a letter entitled Award Claim Notification.  She was asked to contact the agent named in the letter to claim a lump sum payout of $8,000 which the letter claimed she won from a ticket (doesn't say what ticket).  The check looked legitimate - I even showed it to an attorney and he agreed - but the sentence that caught our eye in the letter was "You will also need to fax you (not your) tax payment receipt to the fax number above."

Obviously the whole thing which was too good to be true, rang the first warning bell but that particular sentence jumped out at me as an obvious way for them to obtain her social security number.  Also on studying the check even more closely (and four people all examined it at my request) the watermark they talked about was clearly printed on the check and could not be seen when held up to the light.

To me this is really evil.  My daughter is desperately broke (but fortunately smart).  I can see that if she had fallen for it by depositing this "check" they could get information and rip her off.  I am posting to warn others of this company name.
