I am one of the few employees that made it around year working in there office, these people are the most difficult I have worked for.

A typical day at this office if to recieve demeaning, threatning and very unprofesional emails from the obviously very uneducated "owner" John Bowers.

Though this did not happen to me, Mr. Bowers gave one of his Employee's an ultamatium to choose between his job and his family.  This employee made the obvious decision to choose his family, this is just one the of very many things this company will try to pull.

I dealt with many techs on a daily basis, and the reports they are putting out here are very true! This company will find any reason to no pay there techs, even those that go above and beyond for this company.

Though they continue to say they have been in business for 35-40 years depening on which blog you find them on , these are not the same owners.  They have an outrageous turn over rate, which i have been told "is to recieve govnerment grants" and "the business was sold to his mother so they could get the goverment grant for handicap business owners."

Avoid this company at all cost, they are nothing more than ruthless, money hungry con artist that will not stop until they are shut down!

Being they are always recruiting Barrister employees to help at his other business's which include, a Cigar shop and Hair salon amongst others, i can only assume he cannot keep employees at these locations eihter.

When Barrister offers an assignment to a subcontractor all terms and conditions are sent to him/her in an email with the assignment.  It is made very clear in the documents that failure to return parts will result in the technician being charged.  Barrister faces charges for non-returned parts and we count on our contracted techs to fulfill the job assignments and return the good unused or used parts using labels sent from the vendor who provides the parts.  When the tech fails to do so, he/she is charged back for the cost of the part.  The technician filing this complaint says that "everything was fine for a while"....but, suddenly Barrister has failed to pay him because he did not return a part.  Everything was fine and payments were made promptly because the technician completed the assignments and returned the parts.  He knew and understood what needed to be done and when he did it there were no payment issues.   A failure by the tech to comply with requirements he clearly understood, as he had done work and been paid promptly and correctly, does not constitute a "rip off" by Barrister.  What this post tells us is that this individual likely did not return the parts correctly causing him to be charged for the part not returned.  The tech should submit all supporting documentation he claims to have to show he returned everything on time and correctly to payissues@barrister.com, fully explain the issue and his desired result, and allow us the opportunity to assist him.  It sounds from his post as if several people at Barrister did try to assist him and he just did not have the proper information to support the part was returned causing Barrister to pay for a part and Barrister to pass along that cost to him, as it clearly states will be done in each and every dispatch emailed to a tech upon accepting assignment.  Barrister has not "ripped off" this tech or any tech.  In the few instances where a tech is not paid or, as in this case, charged back for non-return of a part, it is done after making numerous efforts to remind the tech to return the part or provide what is needed to facilitate payment.  Barrister paid over 3,000 technicians last year.  Compared to the very few who have posted negatively, it becomes apparent that Barrister is not mistreating or unfairly penalizing anyone.    We value and appreciate our techs and we make every effort to make sure they are paid promptly and correctly.  We work with the finest independent contractor technicians in North America and we are proud of our long history of fair and ethical payment practices.  We urge this technician to submit all of his documentation as described above and we will certainly take a look to see if there is an error on Barrister's part and if so, it will be promptly corrected.

And they strike again!

I have never in my life seen a company that will fight and argue over supposed "lies" that are being put out about them, in their rebuttal they talk crap about the employee I mentioned in my origianl post that they made choose between work and his family, which goes to show just how this company treats it's employees.

Like I said they strike again, they told the entire dispatch department in Hammond they have 2 weeks before they will be let go if they do not improve their numbers.  This right now is not possible due to the amount of people in the department (it is the time of year that a ton of people will be hired and fired) and they know this.

LIKE I SAID BEFORE, RUN!!

Technicians are paid promptly and correctly by Barrister

#11REBUTTAL Owner of company

Thousands of technicians are paid promptly and correctly by Barrister.  If there is an error or a delay, Barrister promptly resolves the matter with the technician.  Posting misinformation about our company is a way for some of the techs to try to steer others away from accepting work from Barrister.  It is a shameful practice.  We urge everyone who reads this kind of willful misrepresentation to disregard it as the fallacy it is.

You guys are great at keeping with those scripts, amazing how all rebuttals just seem to say the same things over and over, like I stated previously I was not the employee who was made to make this decision. However, that was a perfect display of the negativity and abuse this company will put you through and just proved they still talk bad abot their employees after the leave.

There are so many fallacies and misinformation in the “report” filed, that it is apparent to me that this individual is simply lying.

#11REBUTTAL Owner of company

Barrister Global Services Network, Inc. is a highly reputable business that employs over 160 people in Louisiana, Nevada and many other states.  The assertions made by this individual are blatantly false.  The individual claims to have worked for Barrister for over a year.  Why would someone stay employed by Barrister for over a year if it has all the issues this individual claims.  Over 25% of our employees have been employed with the company for more than 5 years.  Over 50% of our employees have been employed by the company for over 1 year.

The company is a growing one who adds employees on a routine basis.  No employee is expected to make any choice between work and family.  An employee is hired to work a schedule and expected to work that schedule to which they committed.  Continued, frequent absences due to any reason present an issue to the performance of the duties for which that individual is assigned and they are handled through the normal disciplinary process.

When an employee leaves a company because they are unhappy, for whatever reason, they have the right under the freedom of speech protection afforded by the United States to say whatever they want to say.  It does not mean it is true.  160 employees are able to earn a living, feed their families, provide a quality life for themselves and their families because they work for Barrister Global Services Network, Inc.  In 2012, Barrister paid over 2,000 individual contracted technicians over a total of $4.8 million last year.  There are some technicians who have reported issues with payment.

If you consider how many have a problem, compared to the 2,000 paid, the percentage is under 1 percent.  We have a dedicated email address where technicians can bring any question about their payment to us for an answer.  The primary reason a tech’s payment is delayed is that we are waiting for him to provide a W-9 document, which is required by law for us to pay him.  We send weekly notifications that we need this document to pay the tech and many techs still do not provide.  Do we make mistakes?  Yes, we do.  And, we work with our technicians to correct them and get them paid promptly and correctly.

There are so many fallacies and misinformation in the “report” filed, that it is apparent to me that this individual is simply lying.

I believe I know the individual who posted this comment because he continually asserted that he was “forced” to chose between family and his job.  When he made the claim to me, I asked for examples of this which he could not provide.  I checked his time records and he rarely put in additional time over his 40 hour work week even though he was salaried.  He walked out in the middle of a work day without providing any hand off of what he was working on, without contacting Human Resources or myself, and he behaved extremely unprofessionally.  So, while he finds fault with Barrister, I suggest he spend some time examining his own actions and take responsibility for his failures.  Additionally, if Barrister is such a bad place to work, why did this individual work here once before, quit and then ask to be re-hired?  This was his second tenure of over a year at Barrister.
