My mother is 79 years old, retired on a fixed income. She is living with me, got a telemarketing call from Bay Area Business Council telling her about a credit card. They told her she would have a one time fee, this would allow her to have unlimited credit, transfer her current cards at a much lower interest rate.
The person told her she would receive her cards within 2 weeks. This was in late November, when the two weeks had passed and she had not received her cards, she informed me that she had given them her checking account number etc, so they could debit her acount for $189.40.

When we tried to reach the company numerous times, I reached a lady who told me my Mother didn't qualify for this program, fax them a verification of her age, they would return the money to her account.

That was two weeks ago, this has not been corrected. I have tried continually to reach they people, have contacted my mother's bank for their assistance as well.

Yesterday, we received a hugh notebook, included were the benefits of being a member of this club.
As well, there never was a credit card, that is a potential benefit for more money.

This company seems to prey on senior citizens in the hope they will not because of embarrasment or whatever.
Hopefully this will alert others of this scam.
