These hags working in this office care only about the power they gain by working there. My husband is now in the 2cnd process of getting them to look at check stubs and handwritten receipts proving child support was paid. The accountants they employ either have kindergarten math levels or are just plain theives. The worker refuses to look at the receipts and check stubs.

One week they claim he owes $17,000, then 4 days later we receive yet another statement he owes $5127, and yet 2 days later we receive another statement he owes $12,617. All of these statements include an order for a bench warrant. When I try to call friend of the court to see which one is accurate, of course they say the $17000 one. I tell them since it's basically "pick one" I pick the $5127!

After 5 years of having his daughter at our home most weekends, the child support was lowered from $78/week to $44/week due to being laid off. The mother of his daughter says (in front of FOC worker) that we cannot see her anymore until his support order goes back up to $78/week. Of course FOC will do nothing. It has been 7 years since we are able to see her. FOC claims the have never received any of the petitions we have filed for visitation (including one sent registered mail).

2 years ago my husband was in a tragic accident and shattered his foot, ankle and L2,L3,L4 verterbrae in his back. I immediately called FOC to tell them he is bed-bound for at least 6months, the woman laughs and then says, "so what?", then hangs up on me. 4 days later we received a notice from FOC that they issued a bench warrant for my husband's arrest (with an arrears of $12,513). It was issued the day I talked to her. At the time he was $117 in arrears.

They once appointed a lawyer for him. After the first hearing the lawyer informed us it is against Michigan law for him to do anything other than offer us advice. This is the first time they would actually look into accounting discrepancies.

Good luck to anyone who uses Bay Co FOC and hold on for an illegal, rude, life-changing hell ride.

My husband and I have been waiting for support review from bay county for almost 4 years now. They have said the same thing to us. They have no record of us ever filing a review and no record of us asking for a review. Even though our case is a "well known" case in Bay county. I have written so many letters to FOC and have called constantly over the years. I have been told that we needed a lawyer (not true) to our file is too large to sort through. In fact about 6 months ago we received notice out of no where that we were behind by several thousand dollars. When we called to see what happened they said somehow they found on order from last year that was never entered that was raising the support even though my husband was making less than half of what he made from the original order. We received a letter from FOC stating they were apprehensive about the order due to the fact NO ONE INCLUDING EITHER lawyer new where this new order came from.
We recently went into court again for this last week and the judge said no proof so it will not be corrected.
This is complete bull and we tend to fight it, however this is not a small amount of money we are talking about.
We have estimated overpayment according to FOC guidelines to be over $30,000. Now tell me, if this was my husband behind on support he would be jailed .
FOC messed our case up, now I see we are not alone.
We have been living off my income alone for nearly 4 years. we should be paying an estimated $250 per month and we pay $1200 per month while my husband is on disability.
They have ruined us financially, I completely agree with supporting your children. I dont believe that $1200 for one child is right, especially when your income is less than $1500 per month

Can you file in court instead at an office?

Can't you file for visitation in COURT? Why do you file for visitation rights via a state agency office? They do lose paperwork all the time, (or so they say) and they make you jump through more hoops to get no results. You can spend your lifetime filing what THEY tell you to file, thinking your case is getting somewhere only to find out months later you have to start all over again.

My advice- get a lawyer. If you cannot do that, go down to (don't call they will just pass the buck) the COURT house, and petition for visitation rights. (the father has to do this, or you can pick up the forms and he can fill them out if he cannot get out of bed. However, they may have to be notorized which will require his presence. Also, his presence will be needed at any and all court hearings reguarding visitation.)

I recently was dealing with a matter in court. I appeared to the clerk, asked all the quesions my attorney told me to, and STILL they did not help me. (they acted lost, and confused) I then went out to the hall called my attorney SHE immediately called the court house, and within 20 minutes it was resolved. You cannot sit on the sidelines, you have to be in the middle of the battle, hopefully with someone educated on laws, and how things work, what to file, ect. on your side.

One more note: If you put this report in dead beat dad's or mom's on this site instead of child protective services, you will possibly get more feedback.

Good luck-
