I purchased a refurbished laptop computer from Baylita on July 13, 2006, with the promise of "satisfaction guaranteed".

The laptop I received would not charge the unit battery. I returned the first laptop, and, upon mutual agreement, paid an extra $75 to upgrade to a model that includes a CD-ROM/DVD drive. The replacement laptop I received was completely non-functioning, and I had to return it for replacement by a THIRD laptop. I paid much of the shipping for these returns.

The CD-ROM/DVD drive in that third laptop would not play DVDs. I returned that, incurring even more shipping costs. It was replaced by a second CD-ROM/DVD drive; that one will not play CDs.

After contacting "Bob" at Baylita several more times, I was promised that another drive would be sent to me on Oct. 17th. (I have retained copies of most of the details of the months long transaction.) That replacement drive never arrived.

I filed a report with the Better Business Bureau's 'resolution service'. When asked, during filing that report, what I wished as a 'desired outcome', I stated:

"I want a working CD-ROM/DVD drive for the Armada M700 that I purchased from Baylita. If Baylita is aware of known functional issues with the CD-ROM/DVD combo drives, I will accept a single function CD-ROM drive, rather than risk getting yet another combo drive that will not perform one or the other function. I need a CD-ROM drive more than I need a DVD drive."

The outcome of the BBB's efforts were:

Case: 701640.
