Car shoppers - please be aware : Bayside Volkswagen car dealer in Flushing, New York - proved to have an elaborate system for ripping-off customers.

First - we negotiated a deal with Mr. Peter (sales manager)  for leasing a 2012 VW Touareg. Down payment and monthly payments (3 year lease) were clearly established and written on the pre-contract together with the color. A $1000.00 deposit has been placed. The car my wife and I chose was a base model in this class and possibly available in short time.

Second - approx. a week later I was contacted by Mr. Peter who informed us that our color of choice was not available so we suggested another one. Few more days passed by to be informed again by Mr Peter that the second color was also not available. This time he suggested three available colors definitely available from which we could select one.  Before selecting a third color for our car and considering the time passed since our first meeting (two weeks) I made an effort to meet him at his office to express my disappointment and request a reduction in our down-payment due to the delay in the process and for accepting a color which we did not really like. Again, we negotiated a small reduction in the down-payment which he noted in the same pre-contract. Everything else remained the same including their promise to locate our car asap and have it delivered to their lot within the next few days.

Third - Few days later Mr Peter informed me that bank statements and W2 form were needed to complete the reviewing of my finances/credit since initially I was not approved for this lease. After few more days passed by without getting a response from the dealership I called and spoke with Peter and was informed that I was approved and scheduled the pick up. Insurance policy terms were made available and date and time were set for the pick up.

Fourth - As discussed, my family (three children plus my wife) and I arrived at the dealer on time. After we met Mr. Peter  who "conveniently" showed me our car and gave me the ignition key to keep, we had to wait for almost two hours before I was "next" to meet the Finance Manager assuming to formally sign the final contract. In a complete unprofessional manner with employees coming in and out of Fin. Manager's office ignoring my presence there, the Finance Manager, pretending to have no knowledge of the deal made and written on pre-contract by Mr. Peter and under the pretext of my "poor credit" unscrupulously is laying out the new terms of the lease which coincidentally were the initial quote from Mr. Peter at our first meeting.  I guess the dear Mrs. Finance Manager, assumed that after waiting there for almost three hours by now together with my family I was desperately going to sign any deal.  She was wrong even after a totally disgusting David (General Sales Manager??) was trying to convince me that he was loosing money $$$ on the car Bayside VW was about to lease me. Even though the deal obviously fell through, my original $1000.00 deposit was not being returned to me that day for because it was... Saturday(???) !!! Having made the deposit with an amex card I placed a complaint/dispute against the Bayside VW as soon as I got home thus the charge has been waved off from my card right away.

Fifth - Hardly wait to drive by Bayside VW with my new car from Bxxxx Audi  (((REDACTED)))only few miles away on the same Northern Boulevard.
