I was a customer of The bank of Alexandria for years and when they sold to F&M, I thought I would be upset. The people at F&M became my friends. Then much to my dismay, F&M was bought out by the moneygrubbing BB&T. From the very first dealing I had with BB&T, I knew there were going to be problems.

I work very hard for my money now every week I have overdraught charges. I didn't understand, so I called a 'Relationship Banker' now if that is not a joke. They don't even call them Customer service people anymore. Probably because they do not provide customer service. This woman explained that BB&T offered it's customer "emergency money".

I then asked so if I am out of money and I go to the ATM, you will give me ten dollars, at a cost of $30.00? She replied yes. This had happened by them not depositing a check into my account in a timely manner. This one $30 overdraught, then caused a waterfall and I was charged over $120.00 for bounced checks.

This is a abuse not to tell the customer that the $10.00 they withdraw will cost them $30.00. I am Furious to say the least.
BAD BUSINESS!!!

Debbie. Are you an employee of BB&T's or are you their attack dog??????

It's sad that you seem to actually believe the crap that spews forth from your mouth!!!Have you ever heard of the saying "Where's there's smoke, there's fire!"? There's sure been more than a little smoke around BB&T. And it's every where they've managed to infest this Country with their Mafia type organization. BB&T is not the friend of anyone!!!

BB&T cares only for a selct few in this little tryanical regime!!!!! And Debbie, you're not one of them!!! Debbie, all of us disgruntled BB&T customers know what we're talking about! Sadly, you don't, yet you keep wasting oxygen claiming BB&T is next to God almighty!!

Ken Lay was portrayed as a caring, honest, hard working man who cared about his company and the stockholders!!!!Open your eyes more and keep your mouth shut and you may learn something Debbie!

The last endorser

Michael,

To answer your question about the check that your wife received from her employer.... the bank uses recourse to collect funds that have been made available to the client... in other words, if you cash any check and you sign the back of it, YOU are the last endorser and the financial institution uses that as legal recourse to recover their lost funds. If she cashed the check, she was given the cash but since the check was returned for NSF, she was liable to her bank because she was the endorser... it is then up to her to retrieve funds from her employer, not BB&T's. Now, you understand why we check account balances everytime you cash a check with us, we are making sure that there are enough funds to cover the check, in case we have a situation like this. Would you have willingly returned the cash to us once you found out that the check was returned??? I doubt it, therefore we are no more guilty of stealing from you than you are guilty of stealing from us. It is not BB&T's responsibility to pay your wife's salary, it is her employers responsibility to make good , to her, her wages. Why are you only filing a complaint against BB&T, why not her employer or their bank that started this in the first place. BB&T cannot be responsible for a mistake made by another financial institution. But, the are a business and the concept of a business is to earn a profit... if we continually gave out money and never tried to recover money owed to us, how long do you think we would stay in business???

BB&T is a very reputable corporation and the CEO, John Allison, is a wonderful man that cares for his corporation, his employees and his clients that allow us to serve them on a daily basis. We ocassionally make mistakes but after having worked in this industry for many years, it has been my experience that most mistakes are made by the account holder, NOT THE BANK>

Extremly dissatified customer of BB&T

My thoughts exactly regarding this report. We knew we weren't the only disgruntaled customers because the business practices changed dramatically overnight when BB&T bought the Bank of Louisville. We too, have overdraft charges do to the fact that even when you deposit "cash" on a Monday you have no access to your money till Wednesday. Interesting, I think they even have computers but one wouldn't know. The statement in the subject report about BB&T giving me access to my $10 for a cost of $30 sounds exactly like what BB&T told my wife here, several states away.

Let me go further as this really gets under my skin. My wife's most recent paycheck was sent back to her as insufficient funds and the full amount was charged to our account (unfortunately, beyond her employer's control, he had had a problem with his bank; thus the insufficient funds). Maybe I'm missing something, but why was my account charged for his or his bank's negligence; moreover, why was his NSF check sent back to my wife instead of the payor?
Like the writer of the report, this has been happening since the takeover. I can only see these problems growing into bigger ones. I'm by far, litigious, but maybe a good class action is in order. Maybe it's a ripoff or maybe it's just very bad ethics. Either way, it's hurting the customer.
