Due to my own error I overdrew my checking account, but BB&T charged me for multiple overdrafts. And they did it 4 times the next day! Never an email or phone call. You could probably guess it would take me some time to be notified because the account mailing address was to a PO box.

When I went to the bank to complain, the officer verified that, indeed, I had been charged. But never offered to compromise. So I cancelled all my accounts and moved to another bank, where I get great service.

Why should they compromise for your error?
When your account was overdrawn the checks/payments submitted came back NSF. Each item would be assessed a fee which is done by all banks.

You didn't say if the bank paid the store for the checks that bounced. If they did they saved you money since you would not have been charged a NSF by the store as well.
