On March 2004 I opened a checking account with BB&T Bank in Louisville, KY. Mindy Jaffe former branch manager was the one who opened my account. I had asked for constand credit for overdraft protection, when finished with the paper and signing so many papers, I remember I asked her if this overdraft protection was the same as it was with my prior bank, she assurred me it was. She also gave me a credit card line of $5000.00.

Several months go by and I messed up on my checking account, to make a long story short..I hadn't realized that the over draft protection was coming out of my credit card. When I called the band I spoke to Richard Owens, Mindy was promoted, I explained to Richard what had happend to my credit card, (I was maxed out) on the credit card. He had me sign for a constant line of credit, I was denied, then he had me try to get an increase on my credit card, I was denied.

I keep getting in the mail overdraft fees letters when I have not used my account for about two weeks. I checked my account and still have the same amount, but I keeped recieving these notices. Now I have not been able to pay my bills, due to the fact that everytime payday comes my check goes to BB&T...

We just closed out account with BB&T out. We started seeing O/D charges, knowing we didn't O/D our account. So we decided not to use this account at all for one month. We placed a sizable deposit and sat back to see what happens. We'll a month was up 3 days ago. The first week, we had charges for our Visa Check card, which we never made. The bank straightened that up, but not until a week ago.

BB&T first told us that we needed to cancel our current cards and the bank would block them, then they would send us a new one. We did just that, but still have not received our new cards, we have a pin number, but no card.

Anyway, after doing the above, I continued to check a few times a week on line. We were still gettting charges for Visa Card purchases, which were impossible. We didn't have valid cards.

We did this test because a few months before, I wrote a personal check and it came back to the person I gave it to. However, my account had plenty of money in it. We sent an email and asked what happened and were told that there was some mix up with one of our kids accounts. So I check our son's, damned if they didn't chatge him an O/D fee for our account. How stupid. When we got the check back, the account number on the check from BB&T and the account number on our check didn't even match, how much of an idiot are these people?

That's never been fixed. Then we would make our paycheck deposits on Friday. One time we made it after 12PM, the deposit wasn't posted until the follwoing Tuesday. When we called BB&T's customer service, they said that deposits are placed ont he account the next business day, however if it is after 12PM (where we live) then it's placed the next business day and that isn't until 12AM Tuesdays. What the hell kinda' bank is this? Any and all other banks (by the way, our company is w/ BB&T so we cash the checks first), place cash deposits same day. I've never heard of such crap.

Well, a long story short, 3 days ago our account was negative $909 and change. Why, because there are still charges coming up from Visa Check card purchases that we couldn't have possibly made with no cards. The customer service said we needed to go to the local branch, the local branch says we need to speak to someone at customer service, just back and forth. The worst part, my wife's SS# is on our companies, as she can write checks out. however, the account keeps going under and guess what? They charged the companies and ours. We printed the proof out for the bank and everything. So we went in and closed the account and told them we would never do busines with any bank that can't even place credit and debits to the correct accounts. We also had them sign a certified letter demanding our money returned via certified funds or money order within 30 days, as per the law.

The funniest thing about all this, we were todl by the manager at the bank, "You have to understand, you have several personal accounts and your wife is on a business account. These things do happen." Our reply, "Hire people that can read numbers. Not one of our accounts, the company's account nor our children's accounts are anywhere near the same numbers." So yeh, apparently all the time, but only at BB&T.

I read that another victim with BB&t. I too called them from time to time regarding charges, I too was charged for calling the 1-800 numbers, how is it that when I am in the positive, next day negative? Then how am I allowed to withdraw money at the atm, if I am in the negative. My husband made his deposit on a Friday, they didn't post it untill Tuesday, he went to to grocery, Sunday thinking they had posted, he was charged the $32 fee, on top of that, his checking acct. went negative? How does this happen? He has always deposit on Friday, went to the grocery on Sat or Sun. never had a problem until this year, does anyone out there have an answer? Is there anything anyone person or perons can do? This is outrages.....

Sounds like you maxed out your checking account and your credit card, both at the same time. Maybe another $5 or $10,000 would help.
