The past couple of months have been financially devastating... not necessary due to the economy or fuel prices but primarily due to BB&T's deposit policies.

First off, I want to make it clear that while I am not that great at keeping track of my finances, I do a fairly good job of keeping at least a $300 buffer in my account to cover any 'unusual' policy changes that tend to take place at BB&T.

That being said, I am also a creature of habit, as I imagine most of you are too.It seems that BB&T is taking advantage of that.

I got very accustomed to depositing my checks via ATM which USED to give a couple more hours of buffer time (4pm cutoff) to get the 'next business day' credit. Also, I got pretty used to all deposits being applied before debits.

Well, I got hit with a double whammy this past month. Because they changed some of their policies (which I have yet to be given in writing) I have had about $2000 drained from my account. In all fairness, I will say that they did refund a very small portion of those funds but it took them 3 weeks to make a decision and I had to scrape, pawn goods, and borrow my may through that entire month to TRY and maintain a positive balance (which was not entirely successful and cost be more NSF fees)
I understand that banks want to make money and they tend to be more aggressive and less flexible than other businesses but it seems downright malicious to impose these kinds of policies and penalties with the economy in the state it is now. It really is a case of kicking folks while there down, if you ask me.

I'm shopping around for a bank that at least has SOME concern for this community and in the meantime, going back to the old 'Sock Drawer' method of banking.
