I had to make a local call to a customer and I had lost my cell phone earlier that week. So I pulled into a Walgreens and saw a pay phone which are quite hard to find these days. It said it was 50 cents for a local call and I didn't have any change in my pocket so I pulled out my debit card and inserted it into the slot and removed it. I made the call which last maybe a little over a minute. This was this past Friday. Anyway on Sunday the charge showed up for BBG Luxemburg at $11.27 and I realized that I was just ripped off. I figured it was only going to cost me the 50 cents for the local call and maybe a small service fee of 25 or 50 cents. This morning Chase Bank's Fraud Department call me to verify activity on my debit card and the $11.27 to BBG was in question. I told them that even though it was outrageous, I did make the call. Then the man I was speaking to told me there was another charge to the same company on the same day for 95 cents. He told me to call the company (BBG) and see if they would remove the fee. I immediately called BBG and the phone was answered something like 'phone services'. I asked if this was BBG Communications and he told me that they were the company that did the billing for BBG. I told him about what happened and the Chase Fraud Department calling me. He said that the information on my billing takes about a week to be uploaded into their system and I should call back. I don't know if this was the truth or just a way to put me off but I will get back to him within the week and if I don't get results, I will be calling back Chase's Fraud department and have them get on this case also which they will do. I just hope that no more debits show up during this time. Next time that I have to use a public pay phone, I will be sure to have a pocket full of change.
