I ordered a Christmas movie that i could not find in the stores the end of Nov, begining of Dec. I have been noticing a charge being taken from my debit card, really didnt pay much attention to it, until this month then i did some investigating, come to find out it was from the place I ordered the movie from. I only wanted the one movie, and do not normally order movies from the internet, but as I said I could not find this specific movie, and this place made it so irresitable with the price being so low. But with me not ordering movies from the internet No Way would  I join a membership. What I want to know is, how can they legally keep doing this for months at a time?? I would really like to get this resolved, and have it stopped from being taken from my debit card every month.

Thank you for your time

I had the same experience as other posters here.  I received an email from hotmoviesales.com inviting me to purchase a dvd with no shipping charges.  Nothing in the email said that I had to join or become a member of anything to purchase this dvd.  I went to the web page and found some reasonably priced movies.  There was absolutely no indication on the website that indicated that purchasing a dvd would authorize them to bill my credit card for membership fees.  I received an order confirmation after I placed my order and that did not indicate that I would be billed for any other charges but the cost of the dvd I had ordered.  Several weeks later, I noted a charge of $9.95 on my bank statement.  When I called the rep insisted that by placing the order for the dvd, I had authorized the membership fee.  He professed to "re-send" me a welcome email, which he claimed hotmovies has sent me when I placed my original order.  I had Never received any welcoming email indicating that I would be charged a membership fee.  I was clear to him that I do not join any membership organizations in order to purchase dvds and that I had never authorized the $9.95 charge on my credit card & would complaint to my bank.  He insisted that my bank would contact hotmoviesales and my bank would understand the charge was legitimate.  I was pleased to be able to point out that there are numerous postings on the web about what a rip-ff Hotmovie sales is and that I'm sure my bank would charge the membership fee back when I sent all those complaints to the bank.  Thalnk heavens for the Ripoff website - I'll check it before every purchase from now on!  Anyway, at that point, he agreed to credit my account.  Supposedly that will happen within 2 billing cycles.  I'm going to call my bank anyway.  I'm going to stick with companies that I know.  Hotmovie sales offered good prices on dvds but, given they seem to routinely add unauthorized membership charges to the credit cards of purchasers, it's far better to stick with amazon and local retailers.
