One of the things to avoid when dealing with any talent agency, whether if you're trying to find work in the Entertainment Industry is to do the research before joining an Extra Agency. I joined a site which cost me $30 dollars to join.

Recently I answered a posting for the new Silent Hill film but in the posting Sherry said it was a TV series. Which seemed most odd at the time, later that day I decided not to go to the meeting since it was suppose to be a meet and greet.

I phoned the company and spoke to the main casting directing inquiring about the upcoming event.
That person informed me that she knew nothing about it, after the call I e-mailed my agent about it.

I said to her that I had called them, but Sherry was insisted that she knew more than I did. Telling me she worked on such shows as Nikita and that I was fill of fit. Which didn't sit well with me, right away I e-mailed her back and I stated that I didn't trust her.

She construed it telling me that I will never work as an Extra, she laughed about it as if it were a joke, that I knew nothing about the business. I informed her that I had indeed worked within the Industry, for six years.

This is what I said to her: Do you know that there is a red flag on your company, telling people like me not to take jobs from you. There are reports that your postings are fake as well.   I actually asked around about your agency, I phoned and e-mailed four of your clients and they said to me that they hadn't heard of you. Why is that? Honestly I want to know.   This is why I didn't respond. You realy should contemplate of what you're doing I suggest that you close up because one day someone will report you

This is what she said:

HahaOk no problemCheck with actra.ca and u will see all bg agents charge a sign up feeAnd it is even in writing on the actr site (actra.ca-toronto branch) that bg agencies charge from 50-100 per year. Good try, reallyU have no experience and I work on nikita, flashpoint, degrassi, warehouse 13, rookie blue, etc, etc. Why don't u ask the right people that r actuallly booking extras on set like, extras casting. Look it up, maybe if u do the research instead of saying things about something u clearly know nothing about u will then know how the industry in toronto works. All extras casting directors work with me and my extras for over 14yrs. Funny how u think u know so much but I'm the one booking the extras on all the shows and u r badmouthing usGood luck and pls don't correspond with the agency and I will be notifying casting about u and that u don't trust the background industry in toronto

I re read this, its so funny I'm sending this to casting so they can have a good laugh too, thanks for making my day.Sorry have to go work now.

In conclusion; stay away from Bcast.

hey there, sorry you had a bad experience with that agency. I have now been with Bcast for over a year, and have to say she has gotten me and my boyfriend plenty of BG work. We have worked on Nikita, degrassi, plus numerous other shows and movies through her agency. I am an actra member so there are no fees but I do have friends that are non union and $30 buck is very reasonable since most other BG agents do charge there non union talent a fee, generally $75-$100.
