Complaint Review: BeachBum Comics

BeachBum Comics Order two items and never received them Internet

On September 20th and October 24th, 2023, I purchased two comic books from BeachBum Comics via their website, beachbumcomics.com totaling $214.88. These purchases were made using PayPal Pay in 4, an interest-free installment loan as described by PayPal. I understood that these items would be delivered in early 2024, mid March to early April as per the product page, well past PayPal's 180-day refund policy.

 

After waiting serveral months, I never received my order in March, I contacted the retailer via email at info@beachbumcomics.com and waited a week. I would reach out again via email and then Facebook Messenger the week after. I never receive a response to my messages. 

 

Around April 20th, I filed with the Better Business Bureau and Florida's Pinellas County Consumer Protection. While the retailer never responded to the BBB complaint, they did respond to the complaint filed with Pinellas County. 

 

On May 7th, I received a call from Pinellas's consumer protection; they explained that the store would like to explain his case as to why the items were not delivered. I informed Consumer Protection that I wanted to avoid speaking with the retailer, as my attempts to communicate with them three times via email and Facebook messenger were met without a response. Pinellas's consumer protection communicated that with the retailer and suggested that the retailer could write a detailed explanation of the situation. 

 

I called Pinellas's consumer protection numerous times during May to get some kind of update, but there was no new news until the end of May when the retailer finally wrote their explanation, which I found to be inadequate. The retailer's explanation did nothing but provide a petty excuse as to shipment, explaining that the item was being processed and still is as of this writing.

 

Having dealt with BeachBum comics since September of 2023, up until now, the 5th of June. The retailer has shown little to no concern for my inquiry and complaint, whether it be a nonresponse to my emails and FaceBook messages or taking a month to write an explanation of the situation. 

 

It leads me to believe that the retailer is untrustworthy and that I would never receive the items.  Even if I were to receive the items, what if the items were damaged? Would I then be in this exact situation, waiting for a reply that would never come? So, rather than dealing with a what-if, I would like nothing short of a $214.88 refund, the exact amount paid for these items.
