Bearshare.com, Bearshare, Imesh P2P ripoff, unresponsive scumbags, spyware, malware, virus Internet
Bearshare is a music or file sharing service similar to that of Napster that advertises itself as a free service. In reality, Bearshare is a total ripoff and most certainly includes spyware/malware which allows trojans and viruses to download onto your system in addition to sending unauthorized personal information to various servers.
It also charges $9.99 per month ("Bearshare Premium") for the pleasure of listening to music tracks ONLY on the subscriber's personal computer. If you want to have the ability to transfer these tracks to an mp3 player, then an additional paid membership (called "ToGo") is required. Even after paying for both memberships, the mp3 tracks have a code embedded that prevents users from listening to tracks unless the mp3 player is connected to Bearshare at least once every 30 days.
In essence, this makes the mp3 tracks available only as a rental. As stated previously, the download DOES include spyware which, shortly after downloading, will most likely require a complete reformatting of your partitions (translate: all data will be erased or the pc will not function).
Bearshare and Imesh are one and the same, so don't waste your time or computer resources on either site unless you enjoy losing all of your data. I canceled my subscription within 30 minutes of downloading the program, yet bearshare refuses to issue a refund or even acknowledge my emails. Bottom line...steer clear of these scumbags.
