Beautymus Cattery / Karen Hill Irresponsible FIP-positive breeder of sick and dying cats Siler City North Carolina
In early-2012, Karen Hill sold me an FIP-carrier Singapura kitten. My female cat is (at the moment) healthy but could infect a new kitten I bring into my home. I was not told about the possibility of infection by Karen Hill. Nor was I told about my female kitten's FIP-carrier status. I found this out after my 2nd Beautymus/Karen Hill kitten died. In early-2013, I purchased my 2nd Singapura kitten from Karen Hill. The male we received unfortunately was sick. He died of the wet form of FIP within weeks of receiving him.
Other than replacement of the dead kitten, Karen Hill made no attempts at compensation for all the medical bills and emergency room vet visits. I was told by multiple veterinarians that bringing another kitten into a home with my FIP-carrier female Singapura is reckless. The vets also informed me that I should have known this prior to purchasing and bringing my 2nd kitten home.
FIP happens to responsible breeders, but the percentage of sick kittens that reputable breeders have versus that of Beautymus Cattery/Karen Hill is shockingly small by comparison to the numerous kitten deaths she produces each year. Something is terribly wrong with her cattery and/or her breeding stock that she has numerous reports of sick or dying kittens and cats. While the Singapura breeding stock is fairly small, there are many reputable breeders who can trace each and every breeding cat that they own so that the likelihood of a sick kitten is minimized to the fullest. I have never received any paperwork regarding the lineage of my 2 Singapuras.
