Complaint Review: Beaver Real Estate

Beaver Real Estate kept my security deposit, explicitly violating the terms of their own contract. I rented one of Beaver Real Estate's properties for over 2 years. I never paid my $1200/month rent late. I took good care of Beaver Real Estate's rental property and rarely had a maintenance request.

When I moved out, the property was in a better condition than when I moved in. You could tell they were rushed to rent the place..dirt and dust everywhere. I spent an entire day cleaning and scrubbing and polishing the property (against the better judgment of my friends, who knew Beaver Real Estate would just have it professionally cleaned and charge me anyway.)

Beaver Real Estate and I had very good rapport, or so I thought.. until it came time to move out. Beaver Real Estate pulled the same old song and dance that so many shady real estate companies use to violate the terms of their contract by withholding security deposits. Beaver Real Estate cited a clause in their contract pertaining to the automatic renewal of the lease as a reason to withhold the deposit.

Another section of the lease, specifically regarding the refund of the security deposit, specifically states a 30 day notice move-out notice is required. I gave a 30 day notice. Beaver Real Estate swindled me out of my $1000 deposit. I've attempted to settle with Beaver Real Estate out of court to no avail. I've filed a complaint with the BBB. My next step is small claims court, and I will win. It's just a shame that so many innocent and respectable tenants are put this horse and pony show. I would NOT recommend renting a property from Beaver Real Estate.
