Beck Taxi Beck Taxi hires employees not familiar with Toronto, Toronto Ontario
On June 6 at 9;30pm after the Centerpoint Mall in Toronto, Canada closed I phoned for a taxi from the largest cab company in Toronto.
I was standing at the only exit from the food court(outside the mall) with 4 doors facing onto Steeles Ave West. Easy matter?
No . I speak English and have used Beck taxi hundreds of times.
I spoke to a dispatcher, then her supervisor and then a second dispatcher and the second dispatcher promised a taxi. None came.
Apparently they were not familiar with Centerpoint Mall and asked me what store I was in. I said I could not get into a store since the mall was closed. It closed at 9 pm.
At the same time I was speaking to the dispatcher, another Beck taxi was picking up a passenger 10 feet away from me.
Finally I went into the FreshSlice Pizza store and ordered a slice and a drink and got the manager to speak to Beck taxi when they finally sent a taxi for me. I did tell the dispatcher that the mall exit I was standing in front of(4 doors hard to miss) was between the FreshSlice pizza and a dentist.
After the Beck driver picked me up, I asked him to take me to my address on Cummer Ave(east of Yonge) and he turned west on Steeles. I suppose it was because of the loud classical music he had on the radio. I corrected him.
I might add that I was temporarily disabled and though I have been going to work, I am going to my 4th physiotherpist visit tomorrow so I could not have gone to stand outside these stores that the dispatchers indicated, Can Tire and Target.
I also complained to licensing at the City of Toronto, but the employee said that a taxi company does not have to send you a taxi. I guess even if you are disabled.
