purchased a computer from Bedford Micro via Ebay on February 8, 2005 for $154. My correspondant at Bedford Micro was Andrew Stein. 3 weeks elapsed and I did not receive my product. I also sent over $60 extra for a CD burner / modem. I emailed them and while they were VERY slow to respond, they kept telling me that it would be mailed "right away!" and so forth. Another 2 weeks goes by and I still do not have my computer so I told them I wanted a refund, in the form of 3 emails and 2 phone calls, finaly the 4th email was responded to. THey said they were sorry for the trouble and had never shipped my computer as promised, and to make up for it they would send a "upgraded" computer right away! So after waiting so long, I told them that was fine and I received it about a week later.

This "upgraded" computer worked for about 2 hours before crashing. I contacted them, again about a week to respnod, 5 emails, 2 phone calls, and they said they would send a disk to fix the problem, which they did do, unfortunatly the hard drive for this "quality" computer was so fried I couldn't even get the disks to load. So I told them I wanted to send it back (cost to me $117 for shipping) and have emailed them EIGHT times (email copies available upon request) and have called them three times. No one has responded. I emailed and asked the owner to call me and provided my office # and email, no response.

They advertise "customer service" and " we are here to help" but they refuse to respond to numerous emails and phone calls. Clearly they do not provide the service that they claim, ergo lies the fraud. If they had promised no service and junky computers that don't work, I would not have purchased from them.

They have clearly defrauded me out of these funds and I would like the situation remedied . They do business under the username "bedfordmicro" on Ebay. My contact was Andrew Stein.

Solution posting this on this website seemed to generate an almost immediate response.

Andrew, as was indicated in my 8 emails, USPS would have charged about $30 to ship it. However, they advised that the closest station to ship it was about 1/2 an hour from my house. So that would mean that I would have to take an hour traveling to get this back to you (both ways.)

Also, I was a bit leary of sending this back considering the fact that I was already out $200 + for the computer, so spending $30 or $120 for shipping, to me, when I didn't know for sure I was going to get the money back, seemed like a gamble.

I also find it interesting that I sent all those emails, none of which were responded to, but posting this on this website seemed to generate an almost immediate response.

The bottom line is that I think that you are an honest person, but perhaps just very busy. I understand that this happens, but as I said, I felt that I as a customer, deserved a higher level of customer support and more attention to problems with the computer.

I have brought the computer down to our local computer shop in town last week and they are repairing it for me for $120.

You need to be part of the solution

I will repeat my advice from the last time we spoke. Go to the UPS Store they will charge you about $25 to ship the item. The $117 FedEx you quoted is for avernight shipping. But I imagine you know that.

If you want to resolve this, I will once again restate my offer. Ship it to us and I will make it right.

The 2 hours on the internet was long enough for you to get yourself a virus. I base this on what you told me it was doing and 20 years of working on PC's. I see it all the time.

It seems to me you are more interested in talking trash then resolving the problem. My offer is very fair and if I were you, I'd take me up on it.

Andrew,

I would have shipped this back, but as I indicated in my 8 Eights I sent, with no response, Federal Express would have charged $117. Also, I called a computer repair company here and they offered to fix it for $120, which either way, I don't feel that I should have had to pay. as for the upgraded computer, it doesn't matter if it was a $1000 upgrade, if it works for 2 hours, what is the difference?? As I said before, emails were ignored and I feel that the customer service was very poor. I am doubtful that the problem was caused by my using the computer for 2 hours. I have taken computer courses in college and use a computer every day for 8 hours at work, so I don't think that this was caused by my actions. I have reported to this company, Better Business Bureau, Atty General of CA, and Internet Fraud divisions. Thank you.

Not Fair summary

This Andrew the owner of Bedford Micro. Yes we did take far too long to deliver the computer. That is why we upgraded at no charge to you to a machine worth $100 more than what you paid.

You surfed the net with it the day you got it and frankly your internet site choices appear to have infected the machine. I come to that theory based on the symptons you reported.

As you know Elisheva, I agreed to repair the machine at no charge to you and all you had to do was ship it to me.

So, although you have told me you are going to attempt to ruin me, the reality and your version don't completely connect. Hence my response is entitled Not Fair.
